Hit songs of Haath Ki Safai


Prakash Mehra directed movie ‘Haath Ki Safai‘ was released on 30th August, 1974. The movie is full of action and family drama and the leading roles were played by Vinod Khanna, Randhir Kapoor, Hema Malini and Simi Garewal whereas the supporting roles were played by Ranjeet, D.K. Sapru, Satyendra Kapoor, Ram Mohan and Viju Khote. The movie was produced by I.A. Nadiadwala and the movie was written by Javed Akhtar. The melodious songs of the movie were sang by Mahendra Kapoor, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi whereas the music was given by very famous duo Kalyanji-Anandji. The movie was a box office success and also earned a good revenue.

In the begining of the movie Raj Kumar (Randhir Kapoor) lives a happy and prosperous life with his parents. But misfortune occurs as his parents pass away and his family gets disband. He gets also separated from his elder brother. He has no money to feed himself and ends up hungry and penniless in the streets of Bombay. There he meets Usmanbhai Bombay (Satyendra Kapoor) who is actually a pickpocket whose main aim is to pickpocket and stealing. He takes Raj alongwith himself and feeds him. Later he trains Raj to be a master at picking pockets and stealing. Several years later Raj has also grown up and calls himself as Raju Tardeo and he is also allocated his area in which he does his stealings and pickpockets. After some days Raju comes to know that a woman named Kamini Chopra (Hema Malini) who is wealthy has run away from home.

Also she has a reward which is printed in the newspaper. So he decides to locate her and gets success when he locates her. He pretends to fall in love with her and when he gets opportunity, he steals her necklace. Later he takes her to her home near to her oppressive uncle who wants her to get married to Ranjeet (Ranjeet). But once again she manages to escape this time weary of running into the cunning Raju. But she never thinks that she will fall in the clutches of a criminal don by the name of Shankar (Vinod Khanna). From there she also escapes and finds Raju alongwith a woman named Roma (Simi Garewal) and a child. That was a big shock to her and now she is feeling helpless.
