Ranbir Kapoor is the son of famous bollywood actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. He is the grandson of the biggest showman of the bollywood industry, Raj Kapoor. Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are the cousin sisters of Ranbir. He is been considered as the cutest Kapoor of the Kapoor family and also of the bollywood industry. Ranbir was born in Mumbai, on 28th September, 1982. This 26-year old actor has studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. After that, he came to Mumbai and decided to make his career in bollywood industry. Ranbir made the debut of his acting career with the film titled Saanwariya. This film was directed by famous director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in November 2007. Before taking acting as his profession, Ranbir also worked as an assistant director for Sanjay Leela Bhansali when he was busy in the production of film Black.

In Saanwariya, Ranbir has played the role of Ranbir Raj, who wants to be a successful singer. In the film, Sonam Kapoor, who is the daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, played the role of the love interest of Ranbir. However the movie failed to do good business at the box office and performed miserably. Although, the performance of Ranbir Kapoor was critically appraised by people as well as critics. He managed to won the tag of the new chocholaty boy of the bollywood industry with his performance in the film. He won several awards including Best Male Debut Award for this film. In the year 2008, both lead stars of Saanwariya, Ranbir and Sonam Kapoor were given the Star Screen Award for the category Jodi No. 1.

After the failure of Saanwariya, Ranbir appeared in the romantic comedy Bachna Ae Haseeno. The film was released on 15th August, 2008 and was directed by Siddharth Anand. Ranbir played the character of a young guy who is crazy about girls in the film. There were three actresses opposite him in the film i.e. Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba. Ranbir played the role of a playboy in the film, who falls in love with all these three girls. After the release of this film. Ranbir and Deepika declared that they are looking each other and are actually involved in a love affair. The film did average business at the box office. Ranbir Kapoor is now working with many well known directors of the bollywood industry and some of his films that are all set to get release are - Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani whose director is Rajkumar Santoshi and Karan Johar’s Wake Up Sid. Konkana Sen Sharma is playing the leading role opposite Ranbir in Wake Up Sid.
