Inder Sen Johar songs
A famous actor in Hindi Cinema named Inder Sen Johar was born on February 16th, 1920 at Talagang (which is now in Pakistan) in British India. He was better known as I. S. Johar in the industry. Apart from his acting career, he was also a writer, producer and director and has directed several movies. Later he studied at F.C. College in Lahore where he completed his graduation degree of Bachelor of Arts. He became interested in films from his college life. At that time Bollywood was located at Lahore where both Hindi and Punjabi films were made. Soon he became production assistant, screenwriter and finally director’s assistant and an actor in front of the camera. He was married with Ramma Bans in 1943 and the couple had a son named Anil Johar and a daughter before they divorced. Later he remarried four times and also has another daughter named Ambika Johar.
I. S. Johar was once travelling to Patiala with his family for a wedding when riots broke out. After that he never got back to his Lahore home. Later he started to work in Jalandhar and his family shifted to Delhi. Eventually he moved to Bombay to try his luck in films. Soon he started his career in the year 1949 with the movie ‘Ek Thi Ladki’. Soon he established himself and later starred in several movies from the 1950s through to the early 1980s. Also he has played cameos in international films such as Harry Black (1958), North West Frontier (1959), Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and Death on the Nile (1978). Also he has appeared in few Punjabi films such as Chaddian Di Doli (1966), Nanak Naam Jahaaz Hai (1969) with Prithviraj Kapoor and Yamla Jatt with Helen. Later he also tried his hands in writing and direction and has directed movies such as Johar Mehmood in Goa and Johar Mehmood in Hong Kong (1971).
In 1970, he starred in the movie ‘Johny Mera Naam‘ in which he played the role of Pehle Ram, Dooja Ram and Teeja Ram alongwith superstar Dev Anand. The movie was a big hit at the box office and also he won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award in 1971 for this movie. Also he was awarded BAFTA Best Actor nomination for Harry Black. Later he starred in many movies such as Tangewala (1972), Ganga Ki Saugandh (1978), Banarasi Babu (1973), Trimurti (1980), Teesri Aankh (1982), Gopichand Jasoos (1982) etc. Also the famous director, Yash Chopra had started his film career as an assistant director with I.S. Johar. He died on March 10th, 1984 in Maharashtra.
