A very famous singer and playback singer in the Bollywood industry named Jaspinder Narula is one of the prominent playback singers. She is very famous for her unique voice which she has used in several movie songs. She was born to the Punjabi family of K.S. Narula who was also a music composer of 1950s. She showed her singing talent from her childhood and was very determined in music. Though she is a talented singer but always keeps a distance from playback singing and specialized in singing bhajans and Sufiana compositions. Later she moved to Bombay to get the path of success and to get fame. There she faced hard phase of time and later started to get a few assignments to sing for films. But due to her inexperiance, the songs went unnoticed. She has always admired on the legendary playback singers such as Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey.

Several years back, she was noticed by famous music director and composer named Kalyanji of duo Kalyanji-Anandji. He listen her voice and gets impressed with her. Later he recommemnded her to his son Viju Shah. After getting invitation from him, she moved to Bombay. There alsos he got some assignments which went largely unnoticed. Later she got a big break in the year 1997, when famous music director Anu Malik offered her an assignment in the movie ‘Viraasat‘. There she has to record a duet with another playback singer, Kumar Sanu. She sang the song “Tare Hain Barati” in the movie which created a rage in the nation. She was shot to fame with that song and also attracted various music directors of the industry. After that she has never looked back in her career. She has managed to render a fair range of tracks.

Later in 1998, she became famous when she sang the song “Pyar To Hona Hi Tha” from the movie ‘Pyar To Hona Hi Tha’. The song created a history in Indian Cinema and all the credit of that song goes to her. She has also won the Filmfare Best Playback Singer Award for that song and Screen Awards for Best Playback Singer again for that song in 1998. She once again came up with superhit movie ‘Mohabbatein‘ in which she has rendered her voice. She sang “Soni Soni” in the movie which also became hit. Later she declares that she is willing to try anything as long as the songs do not border on vulgarity. Not only this, she has sung in several movies such as ‘Dulhe Raja’ in 1998, ‘Mission Kashmir‘ in 2000, ‘Mohabbatein’ in 2000, ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’ in 2000 and many more. She is holding a post-graduate degree from University of Delhi and is now upto her PhD on the influence of Urdu and Persian on Hindustani classical music.
