Mahesh Manjrekar directed, a comedy movie named ‘Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai‘ was released under the banner of Universal music on October 13th, 2000. The movie is full of comedy and fammily drama and the lead roles in the movie were played by Govinda, Sonali Bendre, Rinki Khanna, Milind Gunaji, Supriya Karnik, Shivaji Satham, Reema Lagoo and Shakti Kapoor whereas the supporting starcasts were included Himani Shivpuri, Nandu Madhav, Ankhush Choudhary and Kishore Nandlaskar. The movie was produced by Jackie Shroff and Ayesha Shroff whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by Sukhwinder Singh, Sadhana Sargam, Udit Narayan, Bali Brahmbhatt, Sunidhi Chauhan, Atul Kale, Abhijeet and Anuradha Shriram. The superhit music of the movie was given by Anand Raj Anand. The story of the movie was given by Mahesh Manjrekar. The movie did a good work on the big screen.

The story of the movie is based on love and emotion. Movie begins with a rich bussiness man named Avinash (Shakti Kapoor). His wife Radha (Himani Shivpuri) gave birth to a child named Ganga (Govinda), who gets ill after sometime and the only way to save his life is to sent him to the village. Now, they sent their son to Shivaji Satham and Laxmi (Ganga’s village father and mother). Days passes and Ganga grows there with their adopted mother and father. Later in the village he meets with an beautiful girl named Saawni (Sonali Bendre) and both get fall in love with each other. But their parents are not agree with each other to marry them as they know the reality of Ganga’s Past. They know that the day is not so far when Ganga’s parents will come to the village and take him to the city. That’s why one day they said everything to Ganga but he refused to accept this reality.

Later in the movie, his real parents come and takes him to the city with their best friend named Sannata (Kishore Nandlaskar). He and his friend never ever saw a big house and city so, they surprised when they see a big house infront of them. Ganga meets with their family consisting of Milind (Milind Gunaji) his elder brother, Supriya (Supriya Karnik) his Bhabhi and Ankush Choudhary (Ganga’s younger brother). He starts to live with them but his manners and behaviour does not match with them and looks like Joker in their family. His brother and bhabhi does not like him because of his culture and immature behaviour after that he lives with them only because of his parents. Later, he meets with Tina (Rinki Khanna) in his brother’s college, where he entertains everybody. After sometime his parents understand that his son Ganga is not happiest enough in the city as he was in the village. Then they sent him back to the village for further life.
