Kangana Ranaut is a famous actress of Bollywood industry who was born on March 23rd, 1987 at Bhambla, a small town in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. She was born to the family of Amardeep and Asha. Her father is a businessman while her mother is a school teacher. Also she has two siblings, an elder sister named Rangoli and a younger brother named Akshit. She attended DAV Model School, Sector 15 in Chandigarh and later moved to Delhi to become a model. For this reason, she joined the Elite Modelling Agency situated in Delhi in 2003. Soon she started her career as a theatre actor with the Asmita Theatre Group in Delhi and was trained by eminent theatre director, Arvind Gaur. Also she participated in his theatre workshop at India Habitat Centre and acted in several plays. She first played in a play titled ‘Taledanda’ (Rakt-Kalyan) which was written by Girish Karnad.

Kangana Ranaut started her Bollywood career in the year 2006 with the movie ‘Gangster‘. She played as Simran, a bar dancer in the movie opposite Shiney Ahuja and Emraan Hashmi. The movie was critically as well as commercially successful at the box office. She was also applauded for her excellent performance in the movie. The movie earned her Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. But before starring in this movie, she joined Asha Chandra’s three-month course in 2004 to brush herself to face camera. Then she moved to Mumbai to get a chance in movies. There she was spotted by film director, Anurag Basu in a cafe. Later he approached her and offered her the title role in his film ‘Gangster’. After starring in this movie, she has appeared in several successful movies. Her next film was ‘Woh Lamhe‘ which was released in the same year, in 2006. She was once again acclaimed for her performance in the movie.

In the year 2007, she again starred in Anurag Basu’s film ‘Life In A… Metro‘. There she played as Neha, a confused girl who is looking for a real love. Her performance was again appraised and the film earned her rave reviews. Later her next film titled ‘Shakalaka Boom Boom’ in 2007 in which she played the role of an aspiring singer, was a box office failure. But she was shot to fame with a superhit movie ‘Fashion‘ in 2008. She was once again applauded for her performance though she has played a short role in the movie. But the movie fetched her various awards including Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award, IIFA Best Supporting Actress Award and Stardust Best Supporting Actress Award. She has also starred in Tamil and Telugu films such as Dhaam Dhoom (2008) and Ek Niranjan (2009) respectively.
