Rumi Jaffery directed movie ‘Life Partner‘ was relased under the banners of Burmawala Bros and Studio 18 on August 14th, 2009. The movie is full of light herated comedy and the lead roles in the movie were played by Govinda, Fardeen Khan and Tussar Kapoor and the equally important supporting roles were played by Genelia D’Souza, Anupam Kher, Amrita Rao and Prachi Desai. The movie was produced by Abbas-Mastan Alibhai Burmawalla and Vashu Bhagnani whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by some famous names - Mika Singh, Shakti Singh, Ajay Jhingran, Soham Chakrabarthy, Antara Mitra, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kirti Sagathia, Kunal Ganjawala, Shaan and Shreya Ghosal. The music of the movie was directed by Pritam Chakraborty whereas the story of the movie was written by Rumi Jaffery. The movie did an excellent business at the box office.

The movie is based on three friends who struggle on the marital marathon. Movie begins with three friends named Jeet Oberoi (Govinda), Karan (Fardeen Khan) and Bhavesh (Tusshar Kapoor). Jeet is a professional divorce lawyer who desperatly is in search of his clients to get the couple divorced. He doesn’t believe in the institution of marriage and is responsible for his client’s divorce and also fighting their cases too. On the other side, Karan is mad in love with Sanjana (Genelia D’Souza) whose father (Anupam Kher) does not like Karan in anyway. For them, marriage is the next step to make their relationship more strong. Another friend of both of them is Bhavesh who is so simple in his livings and is in favour of arranged marriage. His family comes first for him. Later Bhavesh’s father decides to arrange his marriage to a typical Gujrati woman.

Soon all the family members move to India where they plan to stay at his friend’s house. Also Karan and Sanjana move with them to India where they are surpised to see their house which looks like a palace. There Bhavesh meets Prachi (Prachi Desai) who is so beautiful and attractive. Now the hunt begins for suitable bride for him but he rejects them all and soon attracted towards Prachi. Everyone in the family is surprised with happiness and soon their marriage takes place. Then Sanjana asks Karan to get married and later their marriage also takes olace. Then the real trouble starts in their life. Prachi’s father-in-law is so strict in his households which she comes to know after the marriage. Nothing goes right in both of the couples life. Soon they get divorced due to incompatibility. Here Jeet finds a bride for himself (Amrita Rao) who turns around his heart and he start to believe in marriage.
