Former Miss World and a prominent Bollywood actress named Priyanka Chopra was born on July 18th, 1982 at Jamshedpur in Jharkand. She was born to the family of Ashok Chopra and Madhu Akhauri. Her parents are doctors by profession. Her father is Punjabi Khatri by origin whereas her mother comes from a Bihari Kayastha family. She also has a younger brother, Siddharth and they share the age difference of seven years between them. Her family has to move frequently as her father was in army and therefore she spent her childhood in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh; Newton, Massachusetts and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She attended St. Maria Goretti in Bareilly and La Martiniere Girls’ School in Lucknow in her childhood. She subsequently re-located to the U.S. where she studied in Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts and then in John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids.

After sometime she returned to India and did her high school at Army School in Bareilly. Later she attended Jai Hind College in Mumbai but soon left it after winning the Miss World pageant. She was crowned Miss India World and later Miss World in 2000. Later she made her entry in the film line in 2002 with a Tamil movie titled ‘Thamizhan’. Her career in Hindi Cinema as a heroine began from next year in 2003 when she first acted in ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy‘ in a supporting role with Preity Zinta in lead. She attracted everybody in he industry with her acting ability. Later in the same year, she was paired opposite Akshay Kumar in the superhit movie ‘Andaaz‘. Her role in the movie earning her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award and a nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. But later she experianced a drop in her career in 2004 when some of her movies like Plan, Kismat and Asambhav released but performed poorly at the box office.

But soon her stars started to light and she got a very important role in superhit romantic comedy movie ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi‘ in the same year, 2004. The film turned out to be the third highest grossing film of that year. Also she first played a negative role in another superhit movie ‘Aitraaz’ in the same year. Also she won a Filmfare Best Villain Award. Year 2005 was not lucky for her as her movies released in that year did not performed well. But 2006 came up with a boom for her as she appeared in two superhits, ‘Krrish‘ and ‘Don - The Chase Begins Again‘. Again the year 2008 came with a mix up of success and failure. Her preformance in the movie ‘Fashion‘ was critically acclaimed and earned her a Filmfare Best Actress Award. Her final release of the year was romantic comedy ‘Dostana‘. Her latest release is ‘Kaminey‘ which is a superhit movie. She is going to appear in her next movie ‘What’s Your Raashee?’ and ‘Pyaar Impossible’ later in this year.
