Shankar Mahadevan songs


Shankar Mahadevan is a very famous playback singer as well as music composer in the Bollywood industry. Also he is an accomplished musician in Tamil cinema and a part of the Shankar Ehsaan Loy trio team that provides music to Bollywood films. He was born to a Tamil family in Chennai, Tamil Nadu but grew up in Mumbai. He started to learn Indian Classical Music and Carnatic music from his childhood. Also he started to play Veena at the age of five. He attended OLPS High School in Chembur and completed his graduation in Computer Science Engineering from R.A.I.T in 1988. He is a quaified software engineer and also worked with Oracle Corporation for sometime. He has the knowledge of various Indian Languages like Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Marathi and he sings songs in those languages.

Shankar Mahadevan was interested in music from his childhood and that made him venture into the field of music. He started his career in the year 1993 where he sang for the first time a ghazal for Muhafiz. Also he got his first award as a playback singer in Chennai film music and winning a National Film Award for his song “Yenna Solla Pogirai” in Kandukondain Kandukondain. Later he gave his voice to the Bollywood movies. In 1997, he sang the songs “Chandni Roopki”, “Hindustani“, “Sur Mile Hai” and “Mahiya” in the movie ‘Dus‘. The songs gained good ratings and he became successful as a playback singer. Later he got to sing the title track of the movie ‘Shool‘ in 1999 which he sang. Later in the same year, he once agin rendered hisn voice to the movie ‘Dillagi’ where he sang the songs “Kya Yeh Sach Hai” and “Raahon Mein Chhaye”.

Next year, in 2000, he launched his own music album titled ‘Breathless‘ which gave him fame. He sang a breathless song “Koi Jo Mila To Mujhe Aisa Laga Ki” in this album in a single breath. He was shot to fame with the movie ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ in 2001 where he rendered his voice to some of the superhit songs “Dil Chahta Hai” and “Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe”. Later he became the member of trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and then gave the music in 2003 of their next movie titled ‘Ek Aur Ek Gyarah’. Also he sang the title track of the movie and “Beimaan Mohabbat”. In the same year, he once again became famous for his music in the movie ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’. Not only this, they gave music to several movies and Shankar has sung in many movies such as Rudraksh (2004), Lakshya (2004), Bunty Aur Babli (2005), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), Heyy Babyy (2007), Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007), Luck By Chance (2009) etc.
