A very famous voice in Indian Cinema named Alisha Chinai was born on March 18th, 1972 in India. She is a prominent Bollywood playback singer as well as Indian Pop singer. She has rendered her melodious voice to many of the hit movies in the industry, She was born as Sujata in a Gujrati family but later changed her name to Alisha. She changed her name when her cousin’s daughter whose name was also Alisha was born. She was first known as Babydoll but she change the image later resulted in the “Madonna” moniker. She has been one of the leading playback singers of her era and is fully responsible for bringing the trend of pop music in India. Rajesh Jhaveri was her manager with whome she married but later they get separated. Her songs often intermix sentences in Hindi and English.

She made her entry in the music field with her first album titled ‘Jadoo’. The music of that album was composed by Anu Malik. Later she once again came up with another album titled Babydoll. She first entered in the Hindi film music by the veteran music director and composer Bappi Lahiri. He gave him a chance to sing the song “Zoobi Zoobi” in the movie ‘Dance Dance‘ in the year 1987. She gave her superb performance in the song which became famous. Also the pair gave many hits in late 1980s which were mainly disco hits in the movies such as Adventures of Tarzan (1985), Commando (1985), Guru (1989), Love Love Love (1989) etc. In the begining of her playback singing career, she has given her voice to many actresses, such as Smita Patil, Mandakini, Sridevi, Juhi Chawla, Madhuri Dixit and Divya Bharati etc.

It was in the decade of 1990s when she moved to some other music directors like Anu Malik and Nadeem-Shravan. There also she made the hit pairs with them and gave some electrifying performances like “Tere Ishq Mein Nachenge” from Raja Hindustani in 1996, “Roundhe” from Pyar Tune Kya Kiya in 2001, “Sona Sona Roop Hai” from Bollywood/Hollywood in 2002 and the controversial “Sexy sexy sexy Mujhe Log Bole” from Khuddar in 1994. She was noted for her 1996 hit single and album titled ‘Made In India’ which was composed by Biddu. She once again comes back in ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge’ in 2002 with the song “Oh My Darling”. Later in 2005, she sang the song “Kajra Re” in the movie ‘Bunty Aur Babli‘ which was superhit and she won her first Filmfare Best Female Playback Award. Recently she has sung “Bebo” in ‘Kambakkht Ishq‘ in 2009.
