Songs of Amitabh Bachchan


Amitabh Bachchan was born in a Hindu Kayastha family on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. His Father Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a well known Hindi Poet and his mother, Teji Bachchan belongs to a Sikh family. He appeared in Allahabad’s Jnana Prabodhini and Boy’s High School (BHS) followed by Nainital’s Sherwood College and there he majored in Art stream. Then he went to Kirori Mal College of Delhi University and completed his Degree in Bachelor of Science. At the age of twenty, he gave up his job as a freight broker for the shipping firm to pursue a career in acting. On June 3, 1973 he got married to beautiful bollywood actress Jaya Bhaduri and they have two children, Shweta Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan.

Amitabh made the debut of his acting career from the film Saat Hindustani in 1969, which was directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. The film failed to get the financial success, but Bachchan won his first National Film Award for Best Newcomer for this film. He gained popularity in 1970s as the Angry Young Man of the Bollywood and became one of the most prominent figures of the history of Indian Cinema. He has won a lot of major awards in his career, including three National Film Awards and twelve Film Fare Awards. In the year 1971, Amitabh worked in two films - ‘Parwaana‘ and ‘Reshma Aur Shera’, but both the movies were not too much successful at the Box Office. In the year 1972, he appeared in the road action comedy Bombay To Goa, which was directed by Ramanthan.

In 1979, for the first time, Amitabh showed his singing talent in the film Mr. Natwarlal in. In 1981, he starred in Yash Chopra’s film Silsila in which he worked with his wife Jaya. During the production of Silsila it was also rumoured that Amitach has an affair with Rekha. He has also worked as a playback singer, film producer and television presenter, and was also elected as the member of the Indian Parliament for the period of 1984 to 1987. In 1984, Amitabh took a break from acting and entered in politics in the support of his family friend, Rajiv Gandhi. He contested Allahabad’s Lok Sabha seat against H. N. Bahuguna, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and won by the highest victory margin in general election history. He resigned after three years. Then he joined his old friend, Amar Singh who helped him during his financial crisis due to the failure of his company ABCL. In the year 2000, he started a television game show, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati‘. Bachchan hosted KBC till November 2005. After that he has done many films like Bhootnath, Sarkar Raj etc.
