Anil Kapoor was born in Tilak Nagar, Mumbai on 24th Dec 1959. His mother name is Nirmal Kapoor and his father name is Surinder Kapoor, who was a film producer by profession. His younger brother Sanjay Kapoor is also an actor while his elder brother Boney Kapoor is a producer. He got married with Sunita Kapoor in 1984 and he has one son and two daughters. His elder daughter name is Sonam Kapoor, who has just entered in the bollywood industry and has done only two films till now. His younger daughter Rhea and son Harsh are studying abroad. Hamare Tumhare in 1979 was his debut movie. This movie was directed by Umesh Mehra. Woh Saat Din was his first movie as the lead actor. It was released in 1983. He tried his luck in tollywood and kollywood industries too but did not find success there.

Then he once again moved towards bollywood. His next release was Yash Chopra’s Mashaal which was released in the year 1984. He won the Best Supporting actor filmfare award for his performance in the movie. Then after he worked in few successful movies including Meri Jung and Karma. With his success in his previous movies he got a lead role in Shekhar Kapur’s film Mr. India. It was released in 1987 and was one of the biggest superhit of that year. Tezaab was his another big success at box office and it was released in 1988. He won his first Filmfare award for Best Actor category for Tezaab. After that he worked in various hit movies including Ram Lakhan, Parinda, Rakhwala and Kishen Kanhaiya, in which he portrayed dual role. All these successfull movies established him as the biggest superstar of that time in bollywood. He recieved his second Filmfare award for movie Beta in year 1993. He starred opposite Madhuri Dixit in the film. He had a lot of hit films like Judaai, Biwi No.1, Taal, Loafer, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rahte Hain and Deewana Mastana.

Recently he was seen in the movie Slumdog Millionaire, which was directed by a US based director. The movie was released on November 2008 and became the biggest superhit of the year. Slumdog Millionaire was the first movie in the history of bollywood who won 7 oscar awards with other International awards. At the Black Reel 2008 Awards he got the nomination for Best Ensemble but ends up winning the Best Screen Actors Guild Awards for his incredible performance in the movie.
