Govardhan Asrani is one of the most famous and prominent actor of Bollywood. He was born on January 1st, 1941 at Jaipur in Rajasthan. Also he is very popular by the name of Asrani in the industry and has given many superb performances in several movies. His career has spanned over thirty five year. In his starting, he came to Poona and there, he studied the Acting course. After a short time, he also became Director of the same Film Institute. He is very well known for his versatality as well as comedian roles which he played very fine in his whole career. His career included more than three hundred films including Hindi and Gujrati. Asrani is married with Manju Bansal who is also a film actress. He started his career in the year 1967 with the movie ‘Umang‘. He played the role of a college mate in the movie alongwith Biswajeet in leading role.

The movie earned him some rare views and soon he starred in another movie titled ‘Satyakam’ in the year 1969. Later he started to appear in many successful movies such as Mere Apne (1971), Guddi (1971), Shor (1972), Seeta Aur Geeta (1972), Koshish (1972), Bawarchi (1972), Parichay (1972), Namak Haraam (1973) etc. He established himself with the movie ‘Guddi’ in which he played as Kundan. In the same year, he starred in another hit movie titled ‘Parichay’ alongwith Jeetendra. He played as Narayan, a driver in the movie. Later in the year 1973, he starred in nine movies among which the movie ‘Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar’ earned him the Filmfare Best Comedian Award in 1974. After getting this award, he started to get several offers in the movies. As a result he starred in thirteen movies in the year 1974 starting from ‘Trimurti’ to ‘Roti‘.

His role in the movie Roti as Ramu, the friend of Shravan was also appreciated. Also he has given special appearance in the movie Mili in 1975. Also he has appeared in several hit movies such as Chupke Chupke (1975), Chhoti Si Baat (1975), Chaitali (1975), Balika Badhu (1976), Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan (1978), Heeralal Pannalal (1978), Ek Duuje Ke Liye (1981) etc. Apart from his acting career, he has also tried his hand in the field of direction and has directed some movies such as Amdavad No Rikshawalo 1974, Chala Murari Hero Banne (1977), Salaam Memsaab (1979), Hum Nahin Sudhrenge (1980), Dil Hi To Hai (1992) and Udaan (1997). Also he has sung two songs in the movie Alaap, both were picturised onto him. Also he has sung a duet with the singing legend Kishore Kumar for the film Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan.
