Bipasha Basu, is a famous bollywood actress and a well known super model also. She was born on January 7, 1970 in New Delhi in a Bengali family. Just after her birth, her family moved to Kolkata. She has three sisters in her family and she is second of them. Before coming into modelling world she was intreseted in making her career in the Medical field. Bipasha had done her schooling from Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir upto 12th standard and later she took admission in The Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society College, Unversity of Calcutta. There she completed her studies in Commerce field. After the completion of her studies, she start doing modelling in Kolkata and took part in various ramp shows. In 1996, Bipasha met with a famous model Mehr Jessia in Kolakta. She adviced her to take part in Godrej Cinthol Supermodel contest. Then she took part in the contest and won its title. This was her first break in modelling career.

Later she did modelling for ‘Ford’ automobile industry. After this, at the age of 17, Bipasha became much popular in the fashion world. Meanwhile, she was also seen in the music album ‘Tera Milna Pal Do Pal’ and ‘Tu Kab Yeh’ by Sonu Nigam. Bipasha got her first bollywood break from the film ‘Ajnabee‘. The film was an action mystry and was directed by Abbas Mustan. In the film, her co-stars were Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol and Kareena Kapoor. Film became much superhit and she was praised for her performance. She won the title of Filmfare Best Female Debut in that year. She was also seen in a Telugu film ‘Takkari Donga’. In 2002, she worked in Vikram Bhatt’s thriller film Raaz opposite to Dino Morea. The film was titled as biggest hit film of the year. Bipsasha was nominated in the Best Actress category in the Filmfare Awards. In 2002, she started dating with model John Abraham and since then they are still together. John-Bipasha pair is considered as the sexiest pair of Bollywood industry.

Bipasha has done her first film along with her boyfriend John Abraham in the ‘Jism’. This film was released in the year 2003 and she was nominated as the Best Actress in a Negetive Role in Filmfare awards. In 2006, she was seen in the film Omkara opposite to Saif Ali Khan. Bipasha got much fame from the song Beedi in this film. In 2008, she was starred in action thriller Race. It was a multistarrer film with co-stars Sail Ali Khan, Akshay Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy. Film earned much popularity and her performance was much acclaimed by the critics. Recently she was seen in a cameo appearance in the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Her latest released film Aa Dekhen Zara (with co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh) was failed to achieve a nice earning in bollywood. In 2009, Bipasha will be seen in her first Hollywood film Chaimera opposite to Billy Zane.
