A very versatile actor and director, Kamal Hassan directed movie ‘Chachi 420‘ was released under the banner of Rajkamal Films International in 1998. The movie is full of comedy and the lead roles in the movie were played by Kamal Hassan, Tabu and Amrish Puri whereas the supporting roles in the movie were played by Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Johnny Walker, Nasser, Ayesha Jhulka, Baby Sana, Rajendranath Zutshi, Atul Agnihotri, Abaswaram Ramjhi and many more. The movie was produced by Kamal Hassan and Chandra Haasan whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by Shruti K. Haasan, Hariharan, Kamal Hassan, Aditya Narayan, Anees Pradhan and Rekha. The music of the movie was given by famous Vishal Bhardwaj and Deva whereas the screenplay was written by Kamal Hassan and dialogues were given by famous Gulzar. The movie was a superhit at the box office.

The movie is about the life of a guy named Jaiprakash Paswan (Kamal Hassan) and his married but later divorced life. In the begining of the movie, Jaiprakash Paswan is a film choreographer who has fallen in love with a young and attractive woman named Janki (Tabu). Later both get married but her father, Durgaprasad Bhardwaj (Amrish Puri) who is a wealthy businessman, does not agree with this marriage. He wants his daughter to get marry with Dr. Rohit (Zutchi). After sometime, Janki is unable to live in a middle class lifestyle due to his husband’s lies and soon comes back to her father. Now she wants divorce with Jai and also wants her daughter, Bharti (Baby Sana) to stay with her. Later court allows Janki to take custody of her daughter after seeing the poor condition of Jai. However, Jai is allowed to see Bharti every Friday under surveillance which he loses after attempting to steal Bharti away.

Later Mr. Bhardwaj puts up an advertisement in the newspaper for a nursemaid for his granddaughter and then Jai decides to take a new get up of Laxmi Godbole with the help of Joseph (Johnny Walker) to stay near his daughter. All plans are almost foiled when the interview is terminated even before his chance but again he gets an opportunity to save Bharti from firecrackers. He throws Bharti in the swimming pool and later appreciated by the doctor also. This works for him and he is chosen for the required post. But soon Bharti identifies her father. He makes Bharti to keep this secret with her only. Everyone in the house start admiring Laxmi but Banwarilal Pandey (Om Puri) who is Bhardwaj’s Secretary, does not due to mystery about Laxmi’s husband. Later Jai’s landlord, Haribhai (Paresh Rawal) also mistaken him as a lady and starts wooing him. In the later movie, several situations occured upto hillarious chaos.
