Famous bollywood director David Dhawan directed movie ‘Coolie No.1‘ was released under the banner of Puja Films on June 30th, 1995. The movie is full of comedy containing many hillarious situations which attracts the audience till last. The lead roles in the movie were played by Karisma Kapoor, Govinda, Kader Khan and Sadashiv Amrapurkar whereas the supporting roles were played by Harish, Kanchan, Shakti Kapoor, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Shammi, Javed Khan, Dinesh Hingoo etc. The movie was produced by Vashu Bhagnani and Kumar Sadhuram Taurani whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by some famous names like Abhijeet, Chandana Dixit, Udit Narayan, Poornima, Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik. The music of the movie was given by famous duo Anand-Milind and the dialogues and screenplay were given by Kader Khan and Rumi Jaffery respectively. This movie was one of the best and successful of the year.

This movie revolves around two persons named Raju (Govinda) and Malti (Karisma Kapoor). In the begining of the movie, a village match-maker whose name is Pandit Shaadiram Gharjodhe (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) goes to the family of Hoshyaarchand (Kader Khan) with a marriage proposal. The groom and his family also come with him to see the girl named Malti (Karisma Kapoor). But Hoshyaarchand insults the family and throw them out. He wants a son-in-law who is forty times wealthier than him otherwise he will not marry his both daughters for the life. Shadiram gets hurt on his this behaviour and decides to teach him a lesson. Then he comes back to his home where he goes to Raju who is his best friend. Raju is a poor coolie by profession who lifts up the luggage of the passangers at the bus station. He shows him the photograph of Malti and asks him whether he wants to marry her or not.

Raju agrees and then Shadiram makes a plan and another friend of both named Deepak (Harish) is also included. Then once again Shadiram goes to Hoshyaarchand’s home but this time he introduces him to a multi-millionaire named Raju who is much more rich than him. Therefore Hoshyaarchand quickly gets ready to marry his daughter Malti to him. She meets with Raju and both fall in love with each other. Their marriage is arranged which takes place with great pomp and ceremony. Also he sends his brother-in-law named Goverdhan (Shakti Kapoor) with Raju and Malti to take care of them. But Raju does not want him to go with him and therefore he leaves him between the way. Later Hoshyaarchand suspects Raju as a coolie but Raju clarifies by saying that he has a brother who looks like him. Then he wants his second daughter named Shalini (Kanchan) to marry with Raju’s brother. But it is not possible as there is no brother of Raju and then creats a series of comedy.
