Bollywood movie, Dasvidaniya starred Vinay Pathak, Neha Dhupia, Rajat Kapoor, Sarita Joshi, Gaurav Gera, Ranvir Shorey, Saurabh Shukla and Purbi Joshi in important roles. The movie is directed by Shashant and produced by Shashant Shah, Vinay Pathak and Azam Khan. The film has a strong story which is written by Arshad Sayed. The movie was released on 7 Novenber, 2008. Title of movie is derived from Russian phrase “do svidania”, which means ‘good bye’. The music director of the film is Kailash Kher. The lyrics of the songs were written by as well as rendered by Kailesh Kher. Vinay Pathak has played the lead role in the film and portrayed the life of very ordinary shy innocent man.

Amar Kaul ( Vinay Pathak ) is a 37-year old accounts manager, still single and lives with his mother ( Sarita Joshi ). She is partially deaf but very fond of TV. He was used to live a very tiring and tedious life as his boss Das Gupta ( Saurabh Shukla ) always take advantage of his innocent nature and burden him with extra work all the time. He manages his daily life routine by listing on notepad “what to do today”. One day his doctor tells him that he has a stomach cancer and he will die within three months. Frustrated and upset Amar goes to a bar for the first time. There he met anonymous young man Ranbeer ( Ranvir Shorey ),who describe his risky way of living life and suggest him to live life on the edge. The very next day, while making his regular routine, list of “things to do”, he met his own soul, who is dressed up in a same way the young man at bar whom he met the previous night. His soul criticizes Amar for going on with his regular, boring life despite knowing time is up. Inspired by his soul, Amar made a list “Things to do before he die”.

First thing on his wish-list was to buy a new car, second was to learn to play guitar on the title song of “Kal ho na ho”. Third was to get his love, Neha ( Neha Dhupia ). He had crush on her since his childhood but never had a courage to tell her. Vinay somehow manage to get Neha’s address through his guitar tutor Savio ( Joy Fernandes ). He meets Neha but found that she is now happily married. After spending some time with the family, he leaves but again confronted by his soul who calls him a coward. Finally, under pouring rain, Amar gathers courage to walk up to Neha, and confess his hidden feelings for her. Looking happy at his new-found courage, Amar contacts his childhood best friend Rajiv Julka ( Rajat Kapoor ), who is a doctor currently staying in Thailand. By visiting Rajiv, Amar fulfills his wish of going to a foreign trip and also meet with his best friend. He happily reaches Thailand to meet his friend but soon happiness turn into sour when he hears Rajeev’s wife Suchi ( Suchitra Pillai ) suggesting Rajeev that Amar has came for only free treatment. Amar immediately leave his friend’s house and start wondering in street. Totally disappointed by the events, Amar weeps uncontrollably and blaming himself for the idea of fulfilling his dream. Finally, Amar decides to commit suicide by jumping into the sea, but is stopped by Russian call girl Tatyana ( Manoylo Svitlana ).She brought him in her house feed him a meal and in no time she get attracted towards Amar. Finally, Amar finds love, most difficult thing in his wish list, in form of Tatyana.
