Anurag kashyap directed a superhit movie ‘Dev D‘ was released under the banner of UTV Spotboy and UTV Motion Pictures on February 6th, 2009. The movie is full of drama and romance and the lead roles in the movie were played by Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Abhay Deol, Mahie Gill, Kalki Koechlin and Parakh Madan whereas the supporting starcasts were included Anurag Kashyap and Thani. The movie was produced by Vikas Bahal, Rohit Khaitan, Rucha Pathak, Ajay Rai and Ronnie Screvwala whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by Shruti Pathak. The superhit music of the movie were given by Amit Trivedi, Tochi Rainaa, Anusha Mani, Labh Janjua, Shruti Pathak, Aditi Singh Sharma, Shilpa Rao, Kshitij Tarey, Bony Chakraborty and Joi . The story of the movie was written by Anurag Kashyap, Abhay Deol and Vikramaditya Motwane. The movie did a good work on the big screen.
The story of the movie based on the famous novel named, Saratchandra Chatterjee. Movie begins with Dev (Abhay Deol) who is the son of rich punjabi bussinessman. Dev and Paro (Mahi Gill) loved each other from their childhood and wanted to marry with each other. But Dev is a arrogant guy and with this nature he always nudges Paro instead of caring her. As Dev belongs from the rich family, he sent to the London for their studies when his father comes to know that how bad his son is. Now Dev and Paro are far away from each other thereafter they are in contact with each other through internet and love letters. When Dev completed his studies, he came back to his hometown Chandigarh to meet his family as well as his childhood love Paro. As according to his nature, he hears some rumours against Paro and immediately believes on them.
Later, in the movie Dev starts ditching Paro and after few days refused her for the marriage. Now Paro go back to their parents and decided to marry with whoever her parents choose. And Dev starts drinking alcohol more and more. On the wedding night of Paro he realizes that the rumours were false. But his ego does not let him accept his mistake and he lets her marry with someone else. Now paro goes away from his life and after that he meets with an girl named, Chanda (Kalki Koechlin) whoes father commits suicide after Chanda’s Delhi school sex MMS scandal. Dev and Chanda now loved each other but he never ever able to accept her because of Paro’s memories and love. He called Paro one day and said to her that he realizes his mistake and wanted to marry her. But Paro refuse him by said that she is wife of someone and dont want to down her husband image. Then Dev realizes that he never loves her and goes back to Chanda and lives with her happily.
