A famous comedy film director, Priyadarshan directed movie ‘Hera Pheri‘ was released under the banner of A.G. Films on March 31st, 2000. The movie is full of action and comedy and the lead roles in the movie were played by Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal and Tabu whereas the supporting roles were played by Sulabha Arya, Asrani, Gulshan Grover, Dinesh Hingoo, Mushtaq Khan, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Mukesh Khanna, Om Puri, Kashmira Shah, Snehal Dabi etc. The movie was produced by A.G. Nadiadwala whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by Abhijeet, Hariharan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Krishna K. Kumar, Udit Narayan, Vinod Rathod, Richa Sharma and Alka Yagnik. The music was given by famous music director Anu Malik and the story was written by Anand Vardhan. The movie was a blockbuster hit and has created a record in collection at the box office.

The movie is based on three guys who are short of money and when an opportunity comes, they all want to maximize on that, leading to crime. In the begining of the movie, a guy named Ghanshyam (Sunil Shetty) called Shyam, comes to Mumbai to claim a job with a bank. He was living in a village and comes here after death of his father so that he can claim on the job. On the way, he collides with Raju (Akshaye Kumar) and misunderstands him as a pickpocket. Later he reaches the destination, a garage which is owned by a myopic but kind-hearted, Baburao Apte (Paresh Rawal). A conversation goes on regarding the room rent and then Baburao agrees to give him a room in his house. When Shyam goes inside he comes to know that Baburao has also given a room to another person. But to his shock, another guy is none other than Raju who is unable to pay the room rent for several months.

Then Shyam goes to the bank to claim his job but is shocked to see a young woman named Anuradha Shivshankar Panikar (Tabu) who has joined in his place. Then he talks to the bank manager (Asrani) but in vain. Shyam has taken a sum of rupees thirty five thousand from Kharak Singh (Om Puri) and needs to pay him back so that he can arrange his sister’s marriage. Here Raju has a mother who is in old age home and he needs to get her out while Baburao needs money to pay off his debtors. Then one day they received a call from Kabira (Gulshan Grover) who demands a ransom from Baburao, thinking it is Deviprasad (Kulbhushan Kharbanada). Then Raju make them understand to ‘liase’ between the victim’s guardian and the kidnappers and keep some of the money for themselves. Things get even more hilariously chaotic at the end when all the characters get together at one place.
