Comedy movie director Priyadarshan directed movie ‘Hulchul‘ was released under the banner of Movies “N” More (India) PVT Ltd on November 26th, 2004. The movie is full of comedy and action drama and the lead starcast included Akshaye Khanna, Kareena Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Amrish Puri and Sunil Shetty whereas the supporting roles in the movie were played by Arshad Warsi, Arbaaz Khan, Laxmi, Farha Naaz, Shakti Kapoor, Deep Dhillon, Asrani, Upasna Singh and Manoj Joshi. The movie was produced by Ganesh Jain and Ratan Jain whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by Kunal Ganjawala, Hariharan, Gayatri Iyer, Shantanu Mukherjee, Udit Narayan, Sayonara Philip, Poornima, Sadhana Sargam and Alka Yagnik. The music of the movie was given by Surendra Singh Sodhi and Vidyasagar whereas the story and dialogues were given by Siddique and K.P. Saxena. Screenplay was written by Neeraj Vora.

The movie is about the family of Angar Chand (Amrish Puri) who has four sons named Balram (Jackie Shroff), Kishan (Paresh Rawal), Shakti (Arbaaz Khan) and Jai (Akshaye Khanna). He is very rich and lives with his wife named Parvati and children. His eldest son Balram has now became of a marriageable age and his marriage is arranged with the daughter of Laxmi Devi (Laxmi). But she does not agree with this marriage and decides to oppose. During the wedding ceremony, she alongwith her sons named Surajbhan (Akhilendra Mishra) and Pratap (Deep Dhillon) forcibly stop the marriage. In this operation, they accidentally kill Parvati and subsequently get their sister married to Kashinath (Shakti Kapoor). Here Angar Chand is full of anger and revemge and as a result he hacks Laxmi’s husband to death. Later he is arrested and sentenced to fourteen years in prison.

After fourteen years, when he comes back, he clearly gives instructions to his sons that woman is not permitted in his house and forbids his sons to ever marry. His youngest son Jai is studying in Lala Lajpatrai Law College and there he meets Anjali (Kareena Kapoor) who is Laxmi Devi’s grand daughter. She admits that she is in love with him but he rejects. Later he decides to teach her and her family a lesson and therefore gets agree. Their foul play of love turns into real love and they realise this when they speak truth to each other. Now Jai has to convince his father and brothers for his marriage with Anjali. Then Jai’s friend named Lucky (Arshad Warsi) tells him that his brother Kishan is leading a dual life as Murari who has been married to a woman named Gopi (Farha Naaz) for seven years and also have two kids. When Angar knows this, he throws him out with Jai. Here Anjali’s marriage is fixed with Laxmi’s advocate’s son.
