Songs of Jaya Bachchan
A very famous bollywood actress named Jaya Bachchan was born on April 9th, 1948 at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. She was born to the family of Indira and Taroon Kumar Bhaduri. His father was a writer, journalist and stage artist in Jabalpur. She did her schooling in St. Joseph’s Convent School, Bhopal and also is an alumna of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. She married superstar actor Amitabh Bachchan on June 3rd, 1973 and has two children named Shweta Bachchan, her daughter who is married with Nikhil Nanda and a son named Abhishek Bachchan who is also a successful bollywood actor. She has two grandchildren from her daughter named Navya Naveli and Agastya Nanda. Later she also became active in politics. She joined Samajwadi Party and became Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha.
She is very talented from her childhood and started her film career in 1963 with the movie ‘Mahanagar’ which was a Bengali movie. She was just fifteen years of age at that time and played supporting role in the movie. She was first noted for her performance in Bengali comedy movie ‘Dhanni Meye’ which was released in 1971. She was first entered in bollywood with the movie ‘Guddi‘ in the same year. She played a schoolgirl obsessed with film star Dharmendra. Later she moved to Bombay (Mumbai) where she starred in many hit and superhit movies such as Jawani Diwani, Koshish, Anamika, Piya Ka Ghar and Bawarchi. She also acted alongwith Amitabh Bachchan in some of the hits such as Zanjeer (1973), Abhimaan (1973), Chupke Chupke (1975) and Sholay (1975). While she was filming for Sholay, her daughter Shweta was born and later she retired from films and focused on raising her children.
She once again appeared on the silver screen in 1981 movie titled ‘Silsila‘ where she starred as a leading lady. But opposite to everyone’s thought, the movie was proved to be a superflop of the year. After that she quit acting and in late 1980s, she wrote the story of a movie ‘Shehenshah’ which starred her husband in the lead. After eighteen long years, in 1998 she once again appeared in ‘Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa’ in which she played the role of a mother. Next years, in 2000 she was applauded for her appearance in the film ‘Fiza‘ opposite Karisma Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan. Later she acted in several films such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007). Talking about her awards, she has won Filmfare Best Actress Award for Abhimaan in 1974, Kora Kagaz in 1975 and Naukar in 1980. In 2004, she got Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sansui Awards.
