Kareena Kapoor is a famous actress in Indian film Industry. She was born on 21 September, 1980 in Mumbai. She belongs to a family who has a very popular background in Bollywood Industry. Kareena is the sister of superhit actress of 1990s, Karishma Kapoor. Her father Randhir Kapoor and mother Babita both were bollywood stars by profession. She is the grand daughter the showman of Bollywood Raj Kapoor and great grand daughter of Prithiviraj Kapoor. Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Kunal Kapoor are her cousins. Kareena has completed her studies from Jamnabai Narsee School, Mumbai. Then she took admission in Welham Girls Boarding School in Dehradun. She also studied in Mithibai College, Mumbai. Kareena has also joined institutes for knowledge in microcomputers and law. After the completion of her studies, she decided to join Kishore Namit Kapoor’s Acting Institute.

In the year 2000, Kareena was planned to act in Kaho Na Pyar Hai, opposite to bollywood newcomer Hrithik Roshan. But due to some reasons, her role was given to another newcomer, Amisha Patel. In the same year, she made the debut of her acting career from the film Refugee. Direction of the film was done by J P Dutta and her co-star was Abhishek Bachchan. This was Abhishek’s first film too. Kareena got her first filmfare award for Filmfare Best Debut Female award for her performance in this film. Later, in 2001, Kareena was appeared in a romantic flick Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai opposite to actor Tusshar Kapoor. It was Tusshar’s debut film. Film did a nice business at the box office. Kareena was nominated for the Filmfare Best Actress for this film. In the same year, she was seen in Karan Johar’s multistarrer film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum. Film became much superhit in India as well as in foreign countries also and Kareena’s performance was critically acclaimed. In the succeeding years, she had done some films which could not do a nice opening at box office. Her films included Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Jeena Sirf Merre Liye, Talaash: The Hunt Begins, Khushi, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon and LOC Kargil proved as a disaster to bollywood.

In 2004, Kareena played the role of a prostitute in Sudhir Mishra’s Chameli. Rahul Bose played the character opposite to her in the film. Kareena’s performance was highly appreciated by the people. She got filmfare award for this film. Kareena has done her first film with her ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor - Fida. It was the first negetive role she had played. Though film could not do so well at the box office, her performance was liked by people. Later, she was seen in some films like Aitraaz and Hulchul. Aitraaz was a romantic thriller opposite to Akshay Kumar which became hit at box office. Hulchul was a comedy film and this was also added in Kareena’s hit list. Kareena has also given a special appearence in Farhan Akhtar’s Don : The Chase Begins Again. She has done an Item Number in the film Kya Love Story Hai and Billu Barber. Takia. Later Kareena acted in Imtiaz Ali’s romantic movie Jab We Met. Her acting in this film became much popular and she got much appraisal for her performance in the film. Recently she has given her voice in an animation film - Roadside Romeo for the character of a female dog. Kareena’s forthcoming films including - Kambakht Ishq opposite to Akshay Kumar, Milenge Milenge with co-star Shahid Kapoor and Three Idiots with co-star Aamir Khan.
