Songs of Khilona
Chander Vohra directed movie ‘Khilona‘ was released under the banner of Prasad Productions Pvt. Ltd on April 8th, 1970. The movie was full of romance and drama and the lead roles in the movie were played by Sanjeev Kumar, Mumtaz and Shatrughan Sinha whereas the supporting roles in the movie were played by Durga Khote, Bipin Gupta, Ramesh Deo, Chand Usmani, Shabnam, Malika, Mridula Rani, Satyajit Puri, Brahm Bhardwaj, Satyendra Kapoor etc. The movie was produced by L.V. Prasad whereas the superhit songs of the movie were rendered by Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi. Music was given by famous composer and music director Laxmikant-Pyarelal. This movie was proved to be a superhit at the box office and also received a great collection. It also won two awards at the Filmfare Awards, one went to Mumtaz for Best Actress and another one for Best Film to L.V. Prasad.
The movie revolves around a mad man and his life. It begins with Thakur Suraj Singh (Bipin Gupta) who is a wealthy person and also lives a peaceful and happy lifestyle with his family. His family consists of his wife and three sons named Kishore (Ramesh Deo), Vijaykamal (Sanjeev Kumar) and Mohan (Jeetendra). He also has a daughter who is unmarried while Kishore is married to Laxmi (Chand Usmani) and has two children named Pappu and Laali. All his sons are well established as Kishore is looking after the family business, Vijaykamal is a renowned poet whereas Mohan is studying law in the city and lives there. Vijaykamal has fallen in love with an attractive and beautiful woman named Sapna (Alka). But unfortunately her parents insists her to marry with Bihari (Shatrughan Sinha) which she does not want. Therefore she ends up by killing herself on the night of the marriage.
There Vijaykamal witnesses her death and as a result loses his mind. All the family members are on the risk by Vijaykamal as he may harm somebody. Therefore whole family decide to keep him under lock and key on the terrace of their house. A thought was raised that Vijaykamal should be admitted to a mental asylum but it is not done and then Thakur Suraj Singh brings home a young courtesan named Chand (Mumtaz). She is brought there in a hope that she will take care of Vijaykamal. She also does succeed considerably but she is traumatized and sexually assaulted by him at the same time. Not only this she is also abused by the whole family but there is one guy who finds her very attractive and wants her for himself, Mohan. Whereas Bihari is also having an eye on her. By the time she gets pregnant and once again traumatized. Vijaykamal recovers but is unable to recognize her and rest of the family do not accept that the child is of Vijaykamal’s. They want her to leave the house now.
