Songs of Kishore Kumar
Bollywood’s top most singer Kishore Kumar was born on 4th August 1929. He died on 13th October 1987. He was the leading playback singer in Bollywood of his time. His full name was Kishore Kumar Ganguly. He had two brothers the elder one is Ashok Kumar, who is also known as the Dada muni of bollywood industry. Kishore was also a successful composer, scriptwriter, director, lyricist. He was married four times. His first wife was Ruma Guha Thakurta. Then he got married with famous and most beautiful actress Madhubala in 1960. His third wife was Yogeeta Bali and then at last he married with Leena Chandavarkar. His two sons names are Amit Kumar and Sumit Kumar. He started his career as a chorus singer at Bombay Talkies.
His first break was as an actor in the movie Shikari opposite Ashok Kumar. It was released in 1946. In 1948 he got a chance to rendered a song Marne Ki Duayen Kyon Mangu from the music director Khemchand Prakash for the movie Ziddi. In the start of his career, he got many assignment as an actor in many movies with the help of his brother. But he was not interested in making his career in acting at all. He wants to become a successful playback singer though. He got a role in a movie Naukri. It was directed by Bimal Roy in the year 1954. The music director of the movie Salil Chowdhury gave him a chance to sing a song in the film. He then sung Chhota Sa Ghar Hoga which was supposed to be sung by Hemant Kumar. In 1950 while singing a song of K L Saigal at his house, Kishore Kumar was admired by R D Burman. R D Burman adviced him to making his own style of singing. He then practised on that and very soon he created his own style with Yodeling. Late Mohammed Rafi was the singer who introduced Yodeling but Kishore Kumar became more successful in singing the songs with Yodeling. The perfect examples of his Yodeling are Mein Hum Jhum Jhum Jhum Jhum Jhumroo from the movie Jhumroo, Tum Bin Jaoon KHan from the movie Pyar ka Mausam.
Jhumroo was directed and produced by Kishore himself in 1961. He also composed the songs and wrote the lyrics for the movie. 1960s was not good period for him. He gave many flop films continiously but as a singer he gave a lots of hit songs including Zaroorat hai Zaroorat Hai from Manmauji, Yeh Dil Na Hota Bechara from Jewel Thief. In 1968 his notable success came when he rendered the songs for the hit movie Padosan. He also played a role in the movie opposite Sunil Dutt and Mahmood. He had rendered the songs for the superhit actors including Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, Dharmendra and Dev Anand. In 1970s he gave a lot of superhit songs in the movie Sharmeelee, Abhimaan, Milli, Sholay, Kati Patang, Parichay, Amar Prem, Heera Panna and many more. Sanjay Gandhi the leading politician of Congress asked Kishore to sing a song for them but he refused. As a result they put ban on playing Kishore’s Songs. But by the force of leading Producers and Directors the ban was lifted up later. In his long singing career he won a lot of awards including Filmfare Best Male Playback Singer, Bengal Film Journalist’s Association Awards and many more.
