Songs of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai


Karan Johar made his directorial debut with movie named Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which was produced by his father Yash Johar. The story of the movie was also written by Karan Johar. The film was released on October 16, 1998 in India. The movie was a big hit at the box office. The success of the film in India as well as in aboard helped Karan Johar to establish himself as a talented director. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was a romantic comedy film in which the lead role was played by Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. Other supporting actors of the movie were Rani Mukherji, Salman Khan, Sana Saeed, Farida Jalal Anupam Kher and Johny Lever. Movies bagged many filmfare awards like Best Movie award to Yash Johar, Best Director award to Karan Johar, Best Actor award to Shahrukh Khan, Best Actress award to Kajol, Best Supporting Actor award to Salman Khan, Best Supporting Actress award to Rani Mukherji, Best Art Direction award to Sharmista roy, Best Screenplay award to Karan Johar.

Rahul ( Shahrukh Khan ) and Anjali ( Kajol ) are best friend and study in the same college. Rahul is very popular in college for his charm among the girls, While Anjali was known as a tomboy because she always behave and dress herself like a boy. Malhotra ( Anupam Kher ) is the principle of the college. One day Tina ( Rani Mukerji ), daughter of principal Malhotra, arrive from London to complete her further studies in her father’s college. Tina despite of being in London fora long time, is more attracted towards Indian culture and tradition. Rahul falls in love with Tina as soon as he meets her. Anjali seeing Tina so close to Rahul realizes that she is actually in love with Rahul. She tries to changed herself but for that Rahul made fun of her. One day Rahul tells his feeling for Tina to Anjali. Heartbroken Anjali decides to leave college to hide his feeling for Rahul. Tina and Rahul marry each other. Tina dies after the birth of their child but left a series of eight letters for her child named Anjali. Her last wish was to give one letter to Anjali every year on her birthday with her love and blessing. In the last letter, her mother has told her about reason behind her namesake. How she came between true friendship and love of her father Rahul and Anjali. She describes Anjali as sweet girl whom Rahul loves, but he did not realize at that time and marry her (Tina).

After reading letter Jr.Aanjali believes that the older Anjali can make her beloved father happy again, and decides to help her father to reclaim his lost love. She makes a plan with her grandmother ( Rahul’s mother, played by Farida Jalal ) and grandfather ( Tina’s father played by Anupam Kher ) to bring Sr. Aanjali and her father to close to each other. Rahul and Sr. Anjali meet with each other in a camp, where Jr.Anjali has been enrolled. Rahul’s old feeling revives but Anjali has been engaged to another man, Aman ( Salman Khan ), according to her family wish. In the end like every other bollywood movie story Aman steps out and let the fated couple marry at last. Songs of the movie played a vital role in making the movie a big hit. Music for the movie was given by Jatin-Lalit. The lyrics were written by Sameer.
