Songs of Luck by Chance
Luck by Chance is a multistarrer bollywood film which is written and directed by Zoya Akhtar. She is the daughter of famous bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar and the sister of actor cum producer Farhan Akhtar. Luck by Chance is the debut film of her career as a director. The film was released on January 30, 2009 with 900 screens worldwide in 27 countries but it failed do a good business at the box office. Lead characters of the film are played by Farhan Akhtar and Konkana Sen Sharma. And the other characters of the film are played by Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, Hrithik Roshan, Isha Sharvani, Sanjay Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla. Some cameo appearances of bollywood stars like Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukerji Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor are also shown in the film. Lyrics of the films are written by Javed Akhtar and an appreciated music for the film is composed by famous musical trio Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa.
The story of the film revolves around two struggling actors who came to Mumbai to become famous film stars. Story shows how these people work hard to be a bollywood star. Vikram Jai Singh (Farhan Akhtar), a young guy wants to be a famous bollywood actor one day. He lives alongwith his two friends in a Mumbai flat. A young actress named Sona Mishra (Konkana Sen Sharma) is living in their neighbrourhood. She normally acts in short commercial films and some TV shows. She is also struggling to get a lead role in bollywood films. However, she is assured by a small scale producer Satish Chowdhury (Alyy Khan) that he will cast her in the lead role of his next film. Vikram and Sona meets with each other and within no time falls in love with each other. On the other side of the story, a famous producer Romy Rolly (Rishi Kapoor) is busy in a film which stars Zafar Khan (Hrithik Roshan) and Niki Walia (Isha Sharwani). Niki is the daughter of an old time famous actess Neena Walia (Dimple Kapadia). Film Director (Sanjay Kapoor), Romy’s wife (Juhi Chawla) and Dimple Kapadia are busy in the work of film production. Because of some reasons lead actor Zafar decide to walk out from the film. Romy Rolly, Neena Walia, and director then decides to take auditions of some fresh faces for playing the lead role in the film. In this audition, Vikram got the chance to act as a lead actor. Meanwhile, Sona is declined by director for which she was working. He denied to take her as a lead actress in his film.
During the shooting of Romy’s film, Vikram Jaisingh and Niki Walia come closer to each other and after the sucess of the film it is rumoured that there is an affair between Vikram and Niki. Vikam assumes that this news has been rumoured by none other than Sona and thus he fight with her on thsi issue. Sona then decides to broke up with Vikram. Vikram realised that he had taken a wrong step regarding to the relation between Sona and him. He beg Sona to not to leave him, but she refused to forgive her. At the end of the film, it shows that Sona is happy with these kind of small scale shows and films while Vikram gains the stardom.
