Songs of Lucky Ali


Popular Bollywood playback singer, composer and songwriter named Lucky Ali was born on September 19th, 1958. He was born as Maqsood Mehmood Ali and is famous for his soulful but strikingly simple ballad-style singing. He was born to the muslim family of Mehmood who was a great comedian on 1960s and 1970s, and Mahelaka. He is second of the eight children in the fmily. He attended Manekji Cooper in Juhu (Kindergarten) Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai, Hampton Court in Mussoorie, St. Georges College in Mussoorie and St. Bishop Cottons Boys School in Bangalore. He first married with Meaghan Jane McCleary also known as Maymunah who accepted Islam after marrying him. He has two children from his first wife named Ta’awwuz and Tasmia. Later he again married with Inaya who is originally a Parsi. She also accepted Islam and the couple have two children named Sara and Raiyan.

Lucky started his career as a playback singer in Bollywood with the movie ‘Dushman Duniya Ka‘ in the year 1996. There he sang the song “Nasha Nasha”. The movie starred his younger brother named Manzoor Ali in the lead role and the movie was directed by Mehmood. However his singing went unnoticed. Then he turned into making of his music album. His first composition was a three-chord lament called ‘Nobody Loves Me‘. Lucky made his debut on the Indian pop scene with the soulful album ‘Sunoh’ which established him as a pop singer. His this album won many awards including the Best Pop Male Vocalist at the 1996 Screen Awards and the Channel V Viewers Choice Award in 1997. Not only this, it stayed on the MTV Asia Charts for sixty weeks.The song “O Sanam” from the album was very much liked by audiance and it was considered one of the best indi-pop songs ever.

Later he released his next album titled ‘Sifar’ which was not quite successful as first one. From this album he was known for his husky voice. Later he once again got a chance in 1999 to sing a song “Jo Haal Dil Ka” in the superhit movie ‘Sarfarosh‘. The song was also superhit. After that he got several offers to sing. His one of the most famous and hit song “Ek Pal Ka Jeena” from the movie ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai‘ in 2000, gave him fame. Later he sang in many successful movies such as Refugee, Kasak, Sur, Love At Times Square, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Chupke Se and Kaante. He sang “Maut” in the movie Kaante which also became a hit and “Jaane Kya Dhoondta Hai” from ‘Sur also received good reviews. He also has acted in the movie ‘Sur’ opposite Simone Singh. He latest sang the song “Ahista Ahista” in the movie ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno‘ in 2008.
