Actor cum director Tinnu Anand directed movie ‘Major Saab‘ was released under the banner of Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (A.B.C.L.) on June 26th, 1998. The movie is full of action, comedy and romance whereas the leading roles in the movie were played by Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Sonali Bendre and Ashish Vidyarthi. Supporting cast included Nafisa Ali, Mohan Joshi, Shahbaaz Khan, Navin Nischol, Mushtaq Khan, Rakhee Malhotra, Dinesh Hingoo, Vikas Anand etc. The movie was produced by Amitabh Bachchan whereas the superhit songs of the movie were rendered by Anand Raj Anand, Sudesh Bhonsle, Udit Narayan, Jaspinder Narula, Sonu Nigam, Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik. Music was given by Anand Raj Anand and adesh Shrivastav and story and screenplay were given by Robin Bhatt and Santosh Saroj. Dialogues were written by Santosh Saroj.

The movie revolves around two love birds named Virendra Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgan) and Nisha (Sonali Bendre). Movie begins from Virendra Pratap Singh who is a wealthy but very careless person. He lives an easy lifestyle and have no care about anything. One day his father passes away and after that Virendra hopes to inherit the entire estate and wealth. But comes across a huge shock when he comes to know that he is unable to do so due to a will which his father had made in his life. According to that will Virendra has to join a military academy as per family traditions and he must not to fail to claim to this inheritance. Therefore he reluctantly joins the National Defence Academy where he expects to break every possible rule so that he may be discharged. First, he runs away from the acedemy so that he can get far away from there. But Major Jasbir Singh Rana (Amitabh Bachchan) captures him and punishes him.

Virendra get unconcious from his punishment and later finds himself on a bed in military hospital where he is treated by Dr. Priya (Nafisa Ali). He promises her to run away next time. When Major comes to know about his intentions, he decides not to discharge Virendra under any circumstance. Then one day he meets Nisha (Sonali Bendre) and falls in love with her. She also comes from a wealthy background and lives with her gangster brother named Shankar (Ashish Vidyarthi). Virendra decides to stay there so that he can be close to Nisha. Here Shankar arranges her marriage with his fellow gangster named Parshuram Bihari’s (Mohan Joshi) son, Vicky (Shahbaaz Khan) who is at one time his enemy. Nisha openly declares her love for Virendra which Shankar first of all does not accept but later agrees. Bihari feels insulted after breaking of the marriage and kills Shankar.
