Songs of Malamaal Weekly


Famous comedy movie director named Priyadarshan directed movie ‘Malamaal Weekly‘ was released under the banner of Percept Picture Company on March 10th, 2006. The movie is full of comedy, action and family drama and the lead roles in the movie were played by Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Ritesh Deshmukh, Reema Sen and Rajpal Yadav whereas the supporting roles were played by Asrani, Shakti Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Sudha Chandran, Rasika Joshi and Rasika Joshi. The movie was produced by Suresh Balaje, Darshan Rohira and George Pius Tharayil whereas the songs were rendered by Shreya Ghosal, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Javed Ali and Karsan Sargathia. The hit music of the movie was given by Uttank Vora whereas the lyrics of the songs were written by Nitin Raikwar, Chaya Vora and Nawab Arzoo. The story and screenplay was given by Priyadarshan and the dialogues were written by Manisha Korde.

The whole movie is based on a lottery ticket and its side effects which are produced when the owner of that ticket get dies of extreme pleasure. The movie starts from a village named Laholi where inhabitants are poor, simple-minded and their lifestyle is controlled by the dictatorial Landlord named Thakurain (Sudha Chandran). She has a brother, Baj Bahadur (Rajpal Yadav) who is illeterate and creates problems for the villagers. The only person who is most litereate in the whole village is Lilaram (Paresh Rawal) who is also selling lottery tickets as he is unable to secure any job. He works for Delhi-based Malamaal Weekly lottery. One day he comes to know that one of his tickets which he has sold out has won athe jackpot worth rupees one crore. Then he concocts a scheme with his wife and getting people together for a feast so that he can get the winning ticket back.

But his attempt goes in vain. Then he finds out that one member of the village named Anthony Fernandes has not reached there, so he decides to go his house only to find him dead. Suddenly another villager, Balwant (Om Puri) comes an misunderstands that Lila has killed Anthony. But when he comes to know all the matter, he also goes with him. Later Kanhaiya (Ritesh Deshmukh) who wants to marry Balwant’s daughter, Sukhmani (Reema Sen), also joins their gang and is given the task to hide the dead body which he does but not successfully. Next day Lila calls the lottery office from where he comes to know that Anthony has already informed them. Then they find the body on the tree and brings it to the house where Anthony’s sister and brother-in-law also comes to take their partition. Later whole village comes to know about the prize. When Jayesh Agarwal (Arbaaz Khan) come to verify, he checks that one thumb print is left and he returns to them resulting in hillarious chaos.
