Songs of Mumbai Salsa


Mumbai Salsa is a love story of 20th generation youth, released on 26 October 2007. The movie is directed by debutant director, Manoj Tyagi, who was the story writer of Page 3. The movie does not have any big star but still there was a good show by new babies specially Vir Das, Rhay and Manjari . The star cast of the movie includes Vir Das Irani, Indraneil, Dilip Tadeshwar, Linda Arsenio, Manjari Fadnis, Neelam and Amruta Khanvilkar. The movie has some very good collection of songs which were rendered by teh well known singers like Shaan, Gayatri Ganjawala, Adnan Sami etc. The lyrics of the movie is written by Sameer. However, the album failed to perform well up to its mark.

Movie starts with a broke up between Maya ( Manjari Fadnis ) and his boyfriend, who publicly dumped her. Maya is young modern girl, who like to live life in her own terms. She even refused her parent’s demands to get married with someone and in opposite to this decides to build her career in Mumbai. In mean time Rajeev ( Veer Das ) also has a break up with his fiancée, Pooja, who dumped him to get re-located to America. Both heartbroken guys meet each other in a DJ club and in no time get attracted toward each other. Everything is going well between the two. On the otherhand, Rajeev’s friend Shaji ( Rhey ) and Karan ( Indraneil ) also falls in love with Maya’s friend’s Zenobia ( Neelam ) and Neha ( Amruta ). Rajeev proposes to Maya. She is delighted on his proposal but soon her delight turns sour when Rajeev asked her to shift with him to Singapore. Maya being a very ambitious and career oriented girl refuse to do so. Dispute between them results in their break up and at the same time Rajeev’s friend Karan also dumped Zenobia. This fact also creates distances between them.

But Shaji ( Rhey ) and Nehra ( Amruta ) decides to get married with each other. Their marraige inspires both Rajeev and Maya and they realise that love is more important than their career and ambitions. The movie is targeted to youth living in metro cities. Its second half is good enough with some very emotional drama. Director has tried to portray the busy life of metro citizen in the film and also answers the question “why people like to go DJ club” . Director ( Manoj Taygi ) after successful hand in Page 3 continues to stick with realistic life of youth in metro. The movie worth a watch specially for those who like offbeat movies.
