Songs of Preity Zinta
Preity Zinta was born in a Hindu Rajput family from Rohru in Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh on January 31, 1975. Her father name is Durganand Zinta, who is a retired army officer. Her mother is name is Nilprabha and she is housewife. She has two brothers- Deepankar, a year older to her and Manish, who is younger than her. She studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary boarding school in Shimla. She completed the Boarding School at the age of 18 and did Graduation with an English honours degree at St Bede’s College in Shimla. Preity then also completed her postgraduate degree in criminal psychology, but because of her good looks she later took up modeling as profession. She has appeared in several films of Bollywood, as well as Telugu, Punjabi and English language films.
Preity made her acting debut with the movie Dil Se in 1998 followed by her first leading role in Soldier the same year. She got two Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for her performances in the two movies. She starred in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s action drama Mission Kashmir opposite Hrithik Roshan and it became the third-highest grossing film of the year in India. In the year 2001, she did Abbas-Mustan’s romantic drama Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. Then in the year 2002, she worked with director Kundan Shah in the family drama Dil Hai Tumhaara. Her final release of 2003 was romantic flick Kal Ho Naa Ho, which was directed by Nikhil Advani and written by Karan Johar. It became India’s second biggest hit of that year after Koi Mil Gaya, which also starred her in the lead role. In 2004, she made another appearances in the lead roles of the two hit movies Lakshya and Veer Zaara.
She got further success in 2006 with Karan Johar’s drama Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. In 2007, Preity portrayed a British Pakistani woman, Alvira Khan, in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom opposite Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta. The film did not get too much popularity. She was next starred in Samir Karnik’s Heroes in the year 2008. This movie too failed to get much success at the box office. She then played her first role in an International film ‘Heaven on Earth‘ and got the Best Actress award which is also called as ‘Silver Hugo’ award at the 2008 Chicago International Film Festival. She is the owner of the Kings Eleven team of Punjab headed by Yuvraj Singh. She is currently more busy attending the IPL matches of her team in South Africa.
