Priyanka Chopra is a famous bollywood actress and a former Miss World also. She was born on 18 July, 1982 in Jamshedpur. Her parents, Ashok Chopra and Madhu Akhauri both were doctors by profession. She has completed her studies at St. Maria Goretti in Bareilly and La Martiniere Girls’ School in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She has also studied in Newton South High School in Massachusetts and then in John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Then she returned to India and completed her schooling at Army School, Bareilly. Then she was appeared in Jai Hind College in Mumbai but after winning the title of Miss World she left the college. In the year 2000, she won the contest of Miss India World and later crowned as Miss World in the same year. She was the fifth Indian woman who won this title. Actresses Lara Dutta and Diya Mirza won the crown for Miss Universe and Miss Asia Pacific in the same year.
After winning the crown of Miss World, she stepped into the Film Industry. She has started her acting career from a Telugu Film Thamizhan in the year 2002. In this film, her co-star was a Telugu star, Vijay. She has also sung a song in the film. In the year 2003, she made debut of her acting career in bollywood industry. She was first appeared in the film The Hero : Love Story of a Spy. Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta were the co-stars along with her in this film. The film did an average business at the box office. Then she acted in her next film Andaz opposite to Akshay Kumar. The film became superhit and she got the Filmfare Best Debut actress of bollywood. She was also nominated for the Filmfare best supporting actress for this film. Her next hit was Mujhse Shaadi Karogi in the year 2004. It was a comedy film, in which her co-stars were Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Her next movie was Aitraaz with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. She played a negetive character in this film. It was the first negetive role for her. She was critically acclaimed for her performance in this film. She won Filmfare Best Villian award for this film.
In the year 2006, she was appeared in two superhit films ‘Krrish‘ with co-star Hrithik Roshan and next was ‘Don - The Chase Begins Again‘ with co-star Shahrukh Khan. In the next year 2007, she did her first film of the year ‘Salaam e Ishq - A Tribute to Love’. Salman Khan was played the character opposite to her in the film. But the film was failed to do a nice business at the box office. Next year, in 2008, she was also appeared in the some unsuccessful films like ‘Love Story 2050‘, ‘God Tussi Great Ho’, ‘Chamku’ and ‘Drona’. In 2009, her two films Fashion and Dostana earned a nice fame to her. She was critically acclaimed for her performance in Fashion and thus won the Filmfare best actress award. Her forthcoming films are ‘Kaminey‘ and ‘What’s your Rashee?‘. Vishal Bharadwaj’s movie ‘Kaminey’ is a comedy film in which actor Shahid Kapoor is playing the lead role opposite to her.
