Songs of Raaz: The Mystery Continues


Mohit Suri directed movie ‘Raaz: The Mystery Continues‘ was released under the banner of Sony BMG on January 23rd, 2009. The movie is full of horror, action and thrill and lead roles in the movie were played by Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman whereas the supporting starcast included Jackie Shroff, Chintan Sarda, Dinesh Lamba, Anupam Shyam, Vicky Ahuja, J Brandon Hill, Sandeep Sikand etc. The movie was produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Vishesh Films whereas it was written by Shagufta Rafique. The songs of the movie were rendered by some of the famous names like Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Neeraj Shridhar, Toshi Sabri, Krishna and K.K. and the superhit music was given by Raju Singh and Pranay M Rijia. The movie did a very good business at the box office after its opening and later it was declared as the first hit of the year 2009.

The movie is based on the “evil within” the human psyche and how it manifests itself and on the myths and superstitions that are still widely existent in the contemporary Indian society. In the begining of the movie, an Englishman named David Cooper (J Brandon Hill) is going to a temple to meet the priest (Anupam Shyam) of Kalindi temple at night. But he is horrified seeing the condition of the priest who has wounded himself by writing ‘OM’ on his chest. David runs from there and then the story of the movie shifts to the city lfestyle where a fashion show is going on. There a young model Nandita (Kangana Ranaut) gets a phone call from her boyfriend named Yash (Adhyayan Suman) who invites her in a party where he is to be awarded for his show which he has directed named ‘Andhvishwas’, based on various superstitions of ghosts and tantric voodoos. Later he also gifts an apartment to her and then they decide to marry each other.

But her life turns to other side and she meets a suspicious guy named Prithvi (Emraan Hashmi) who is a painter. She is shocked to listen from him that he has painted a girl four months ago who looks same as Nandita. Then she started to observe some mental attacks and loses her balance for sometime. Prithvi knows this and always tries to be near her to save her from any sudden attack. Yash does not likes this. When Nandita gets upset totally then she decides to find out the reason behind this and asks for help with Yash who refuses her saying that this is a superstition. Prithvi comes to her help and then they go to Kalindi where they meet the corrupt police inspector (Dinesh Lamba) who is involved in this and is about to die. From him, she comes to know the full story and her involvement in all this and gets depressed. She also meets with a prostitute who is actually that priest’s wife and is happy that her husband has dies as he was an evil man.
