One of the prominent Bollywood actress named Reena Roy was born on January 7th, 1952 in India. She is very well known in the industry for her leading roles in several Hindi movies. She was one of the top actresses of her time. She was born to the family of a Muslim father and a Hindu mother. Her parents got divorced after having four children together from which Reena was third child. She had entered in the Bollywood in her early years when she was teenage, to support her family in financial way. She was married to Mohsin Khan who was a Pakistani cricketer and the couple has a daughter named Sanam. But the marriage ended shortly and also she lost the custody of her daughter. Later she regained custody when Mohsin Khan remarried a younger woman. There were no as such reasons to break up the marriage, but the main reason was that she was not accepted by her husband’s social circle.

Reena Roy entered in the field of movies in 1971 with the movie ‘Nayi Duniya Naye Log‘ in which she was cated alongwith another newcomer named Danny Denzongpa. But the movie did not released on time due to some reason. Later in 1972, film director B.R Ishara casted both actors again in his film titled ‘Zaroorat‘. She got some attention with that movie and also was called as ‘Zaroorat Girl’ in the induatry. But a new light to her film career came in 1973 when she was selected for ‘Jaise Ko Taisa’ in which her rain-soaked dance to the song “Ab ke Sawan” with Jeetendra raised temperatures. Later she had to wait for two years and in 1975 she got another chance to appear in the movie ‘Kalicharan‘. The movie was proved to be a hit and she was shot to fame. Also Shatrughan Sinha starred in the movie and her pair with him was liked by everyone. Later they became an off-screen pair as well and they signed several films together.

The success of the year 1975 in her career made her a star in the industry. Later in 1976, she appeared in another superhit movie titled ‘Nagin‘ where she played the title role of female snake with mythological powers. Her role in the movie received her first Filmfare nomination as Best Actress. Film director Rajkumar Kohli starred her in his next movie ‘Jaani Dushman‘ in 1979. Soon the pair, Roy-Kohli gave some hit movies like Muqabla (1979), Badle Ki Aag (1982) and Raaj Tilak (1984). She was also paired with another superstar named Jeetendra with whome she gave some hits such as Apnapan (1977), Aasha (1980) and Arpan (1983). Her acting in the movie Apnapan won her the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award but she refused to accept the award saying that she was in lead role not in supporting role. She left the industry in mid 1980s but came back with ‘Aadmi Khilona Hai‘ in 1993. Her last film appearance was in J.P Dutta’s Refugee in 2000.
