Prominent bollywood superstar, Saif Ali Khan was born on August 16th, 1970 at New Delhi. He was born to the Muslim family of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi who is the Nawab of Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore who is also a famous bollywood star. HE was born to the family of three children and has two sisters named Soha Ali Khan who is a bollywood actress and Saba Ali Khan who is a jewellery designer. His grandfather Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi was the Nawab of Pataudi as well as an accomplished cricketer who played for England and then for India as the captain of the team. He studied at the Lawrence School Sanawar in his early days and later attended Lockers Park Prep School. Then he attended Winchester College which is a famous independent school for boys in UK. He can speak his native languages of Hindi, Bengali as well as English fluently. He married with Amrita Singh in 1991 and became father of two children. The couple divorced in 2004.
It was the year 1992 when Saif started his bollywood career with the movie ‘Parampara’ in which he was noticed for his acting abilities. It was not this year but in 1993 he was shot to fame when he won the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for Aashiq Awara. Later in next year, 1994 he was noticed in ‘Yeh Dillagi‘ in which he acted opposite Kajol and Akshay Kumar. This movie was his first major hit. But in his later career, he failed to do any magic with his performance and at the box office. He has only multi-starrer hit movies such as Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Imtihaan (1995),[8] Kachche Dhaage (1999) and Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United (1999). It was in 2000, when he came with a hit ‘Kya Kehna‘ starring him and Preity Zinta. But his real success started in the year 2001, when he acted in contemporary drama movie ‘Dil Chahta Hai‘ alongwith Aamir Khan and Akshaye Khanna.
From then on his career graph started to climb with some superhit movies such as Kal Ho Na Ho (2003), Hum Tum (2004), Salaam Namaste (2005), Parineeta (2005), Omkara (2006), Race (2008) and recently Love Aaj Kal (2009). The movie ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ was the second top-grossing film of the year, and Khan’s performance was praised by critics. He also won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for this movie. His first collaboration with Yash Raj Films comes in 2004 when he starred in romantic comedy movie ‘Hum Tum’. For this movie he also won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award and was conferred the coveted National Film Award for Best Actor. His role of Shekhar Rai in ‘Parineeta‘ was also noted by the audiance. His performance in melodrama movie ‘Omkara’ earned him Best Villain awards at the Star Screen, Filmfare, Zee Cine and IIFA Awards. He has recently starred in Love Aaj Kal of whome he is also the producer.
