Songs of Sapna Mukherjee
A very famous Bollywood playback singer, Sapna Mukherjee was known for her unique voice and singing ability in the industry. She is well trained in Classical singing. Despite being well trained in classical singing and having the potential, she couldn’t scale great heights like her contemporaries Alka Yagnik and Kavita Krishnamurthy. She became famous in the year 1989 when she sang the song “Tirchi Topiwale” in the movie ‘Tridev‘. From then on, she has sung for most of the leading ladies of the time including Sridevi, Sushmita Sen, Rekha and many others. She made her singing debut in the industry in 1986 with the movie ‘Jaan baaz‘ where she sang the song “”Ek To Kam Zindagani..Pyar Do Pyar Lo”. The song became a huge hit which included her in the list of famous playback singers. She recorded that song under supervision of famous Kalyanji-Anandji.
Later in the year 1989 with the movie Tridev, she sang another musical hit song “Oye Oye” in which her voice was full of naughtiness and spunk. She has won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for this movie. During the mid 1990s, in 1996 she gave her voice to the song “Dekho Dekho Baarah Baje” in the movie Mr. Bechara. The song became huge hit and she once again gained respect and success from the listeners. Befor this, she also has rendered her voice in Parody song in King Uncle in 1993. In 1992, her song “Kud Ko Kya Samajhti Hai” from movie ‘Khiladi‘ became huge success and after that she never looked back in her career. In later part of her career, she has sung in several movies from which some of her successful movies are Corporate (2006), King Uncle (1993), Khiladi (1992), Bewafaa (2005), Raja Hindustani (1996) and many more.
She once again got into the limelight in 1996, due to her song “Pardesi Pardesi Jaana Nahi” which is from the movie ‘Raja Hindustani’. By the year 2000, she has established herself as one of the most prominent Bollywood playback singers. Her magic of voice once again was seen in the song “Rabba Ishq Na Hove” which she sang in the movie Andaaz in 2003. Two years later in 2005 she once again showed her magic in the song “Cham Se Vo Aa Jaye” in the movie ‘Dus‘. She has worked with many famous names in the feild of music direction such as Nadeem-Shravan, Kalyanji-Anandji, Vishal-Shekhar, Shamir Tandon etc. The movie titled Corporate in 2006, has her voice in the song “O Sikandar” which also became famous among public. Also the same year, she came out with an album entitled ‘Mere Piya‘. She gave several solo performances as well as duets with Sonu Nigam, Lata Mangeshkar.
