Shantanu Mukherjee is a very famous playback singer in the bollywood. He was born on August 30th, 1972 at Khandwa in India. He was born into a Bengali family and his father, Manas Mukherjee was a famous music director. His grandfather Jahar Mukherjee was also very popular in Hindi Cinema. He has a sister whose name is Sagarika who is also a singer. Shantanu Mukherjee is very popular in bollywood by the name of Shaan which is been given by Music Director Biddu, who is based in london. He has married with Radhika and has two sons named Soham and Shubh. Shaan started his singing career at his childhood by singing ad jingles. Later he get apart for sometime and again returned to singing. He sang a single line in the song “Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti Hamari” in movie ‘Parinda‘ (1989). At that time he was just fifteen years of age. Later in 1995 he began his professional career of singing with the release of remix album called Q-funk.

His album ‘Tanha Dil’ had gone to achieve a huge success and for this he also won the MTV Asia Music Award. His albums like Tanha Dil and Aksar became huge success in which he shows his talent of composing and writing the lyrics of the songs.By the year 1999, he has made his presence strong in the bollywood and also got some songs to sing in the movie ‘Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi‘. The songs “Musu Musu Hasi” and “Wo Pehli Baar Jab Hum Mile” gave him a lot of success in his career. In the year 2001, he got several movies such as Deewanapan, One 2 Ka 4, Aamdani Aatthanni Kharcha Rupiya, Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat, Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar, Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke, Asoka, Yeh Dil Aashiqana, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Dil Chahta Hai and Indian in which he spread his magic of voice. In later years he got some superhit movies in which he sang suerhit songs such as “Chand Sifarish” from Fanaa (2006).

Apart from his singing he has hosted the television show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee TV, which won the Music Programme of the Year award at the Indian Telly Awards in 2003. He hosted this show for a long period of time (2000-2006). Also he has hosted Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs. Not only this he has hosted an another popular reality show called Star Voice of India on Star Plus. He has also acted in the movie ‘Daman‘ in 2002 in which he worked with Raveena Tandon. He has won the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award and the Zee Cine Award Best Playback Singer in Male Category for Fanaa and Saawariya whereas nominated for Dus, Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa and Dil Chahta Hai. Recently he has won Star Parivaar Awards for Favourite Host in 2009.
