Songs of Sukhwinder Singh
Sukhwinder Singh was born in Amitsar, Punjab, India. His gave his first performance as a singer at the age of just seven. It was a stage performance though. Before working as a playback singer in bollywood movie, he released his own punjabi album Munda Southhall Da. He also worked in a movie named Rakshagan as a child artist. Karma was his first movie in which he rendered few lines of a song. Then he sang a song Aa ja sanam from the movie Khilaaf. But this film too failed to get him success as a singer. Then he realised that his voice need some difference from the present playback singer of the bollywood industry. He then left Mumbai and visited America and England to learn different types of music.
His became famous after rendering the hit song Chaiyya Chaiyaa from the movie Dil Se picturised on Shahrukh Khan and Malaika Arora Khan. He also won the Filmfare Best Playback Male singer award for the song. The song was composed by A.R. Rahman. List of movies in which he has given his soulful voice includes Taal, Daag, Tere Naam, Apna Sapna Money Money, Chak De India, Om Shanti Om and many more. he also played the role of judge in the second series of the reality show Star voice of India. In the year 2008 he gave the hit songs from the movie Chak De India, Om Shanti Om, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Fashion. Currently he won the Filmfare Best Male Singer award for the Song Haule haule from the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Slumdog Millionaire’s song Jai Ho has also been rendered by none other than Sukhwinder Singh. This songs was composed by A R Rahman and lyrics writer of the songs was Gulzar. He also sang this song in the opening ceremony of the world’s biggest awards function, Oscar Awards. The song also won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. In 2009 he had sung the songs Marjaani marjaani from the movie Billu. He also sang a Kannada song Kumbaaraki in 2009 for the Kannada Movie Kaaranji.
