Esmayeel Shroff directed movie ‘Tarkieb‘ was released under the banner of Jay Movies on 23rd June, 2000. The movie is full of action and crime and the lead roles in the movie were played by Nana Patekar, Tabu, Shilpa Shetty and Aditya Pancholi. Other supporting roles were played by Milind Soman, Ashutosh Rana, Tiku Talsania, Akhilendra Mishra, Raghuvir Yadav, Vinod Nagpal, Deepak Qazir, Razak Khan, Shehzad Sheikh, Cyrus Herald etc. The movie was produced by Jay Mehta whereas the story, screenplay and dialogues of the movie were given by Moin-ud-din. Hit songs of the movie were rendered by Shantanu Mukherjee, Vinod Rathod, Sabri Brothers, Sagarika, Richa Sharma, Jagjit Singh and Alka Yagnik whereas the music was given by famous Aadesh Srivastava and Sanjay Chowdhary. The movie did not went upto the expectations and generated less revenue at the box office.

The movie is based on betrayal and crime. One day a group of ‘Dhobis’ go to thr river to wash their clothes where a dhoban suddenly sees a a hand in a creek where she was washing clothes. She screams and gathered all the nearby dhobis who later call the police. Shortly the police come and start their investigation. During the investigation of that place, they find various parts of this body and on the basis of those parts, they conclude that the body is to be that of a young woman. All parts have been found except the head of the body. Later they also decides to check the list of missing persons but in vain. Then the case is assigned to Inspector Pyare Mohan (Deepak Qazir) who starts his proceedings shortly. But it is not so easy for him as he receives a threat call by an anonymous caller on the phone. He demands that the case must be closed.

Therefore Inspector Pyare Mohan decides to close the case but then additional evidence surfaces which moves this case to Jasraj Patel (Nana Patekar) who is a CBI inspector. Jasraj has an assistant named Gangaram (Tiku Talsania) alongwith whome he comes to take the charge of this investigation. Soon Jasraj finds out that the dead body is no doubt of a young lady and her name was Ms. Roshni Choubey (Tabu) who lived a poor lifestyle alongwith her three unmarried sisters. Also he finds out that Roshni was involved with several men which included Dr. Kamal Dogra (Ashutosh Rana), Mohan Multani (Aditya Pancholi), Captain Ajit Verma (Milind Soman) and Bhishan Nanda (Akhilendra Mishra). All these guys have a motive for killing her and disposing off her body. Later he also receives a threat call from the same anonymous caller whose demands are the same.
