Songs of Veer-Zaara
Famous film director, Yash Chopra directed movie ‘Veer-Zaara‘ was released under the banner of Yash Raj Films on November 12th, 2004. The movie is full of romance and family drama and the lead roles in the movie were played by Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee whereas the supporting roles were played by Kiron Kher, Divya Dutta, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Manoj Bajpai, Zohra Sehgal, Akhilendra Mishra etc. The movie was produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Chopra whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Hussain, Gurdas Mann, Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Roop Kumar Rathod, Ahmed Hussain etc. Superhit music of the movie was given by Sanjeev Kohli and Madan Mohan whereas the story, screenplay and dialogues were written by Aditya Chopra. The movie was a superhit at the box office.
Movie is based on a guy who has left everything for his love and becomes a convict and is thrown in the Pakistan Jail. This movie gives a message that love has no boundries. In the begining of the movie, a convict named Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan) is ill treated by the jailor (Akhilendra Mishra). He is prisoner no.786 and named as Rajesh Rathore, an alleged spy for the Indian army who was caught red-handed spying in Pakistan. Later International Human Rights Commission hires a young aspiring lawyer named Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukherjee) to look after the rights of the prisoners. There she meets him and comes to know his real name. She is also told that he has never spoken a word for over twenty two years but he responds when Saamiya calls him with his real name. She asks him about his past life and then Veer starts telling her what actually happened twenty two years later.
He tells her about him and a young woman named Zaara Hayaat Khan (Preity Zinta) who is only daughter of wealthy Jahangir Hayaat Khan (Boman Irani) who is a politician. She came to India to scatter her Bebe’s (Zohra Sehgal) funeral ash because it was her last wish which she has to fulfill. On the way, her bus meets with an accident and there reaches Squadron Leader Veer Pratap Singh who saves her. He also helps Zaara in completing her Bebe’s final rites and when she wants him to give something in return, he wants her one day of her life. She agrees and they go to his village where she meets Veer’s father named Chaudhary Sumer Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) and his mother, Maati (Hema Malini). By the time Veer has fallen in love with her without knowing that she is already engaged with Razaa Shirazi (Manoj Bajpai). When he comes to know about this, he gets his heartbroken. Later Zaara also realises that she loves Veer and then starts a web of deceit and betrayal, made to sign a “confession” and the thrown in prison.
