A very famous comedy film director, Priyadarshan directed movie ‘Billu‘ was released under the banner of Eros Entertainment on February 13th, 2009. The movie is full of comedy drama and the lead roles in the movie were played by Irrfan Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Lara Dutta whereas the supporting roles were palyed by Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Uday Atroliyer, Priyanka Chopra, Pratik Dalvi, Manoj Joshi, Rasika Joshi etc. The movie was produced by Gauri Khan and Sanjiv Chawla whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by Abhijeet, Sunidhi Chauhan, Akriti Kakkar, Tulsi Kumar, Sukhwinder Singh, Neeraj Shridhar, Rana Muzumdar, Kay Kay etc. The music of the movie was given by famous Pritam Chakraborty and the story was written by Sreenivasan. Dialogues were given by Manisha Korde and the movie was proved to be average at the box office.

Movie is based on friendship of two persons just like ‘Lord Krishna and Sudama’. In the begining of the movie, Billu Vilas Pardesi (Irrfan Khan) lives in a village called Budbuda, with his wife named Bindiya (Lara Dutta) and two children named Gunja (Mitali Mayakar) and Ronak (Pratik Dalvi). He works as a barber and has a shop in the market where he used to spend time with his friends named Budbudiya (Rajpal Yadav)and Naubat Chacha (Asrani). Everything goes right until Sahir Khan (Shahrukh Khan) who is the superstar of Bollywood, comes to this village for shooting of his film. With the coming of Sahir Khan, Billu gets in tension as he has told his family members that he knows Sahir Khan from past but never tells them how he knows him from past. As a result, his children spread rumors about their father’s friendship with the famous star which spread throughout the village.

Soon Billu beomes the centre of attraction in the whole village. People who met him in a week and also does not like him, start calling his as their best friend. All this is happening so that he will introduce them to Sahir. But Billu does not agrees for this as he cannot introduce anyone to Sahir. Later one day Sahukaar Daamchand (Om Puri) who is a powerful businessman comes to Billu and gives him some expensive gifts for his shop. Also in the village school, he is ask to call Sahir in the school for sometime only. Now he gets totally trapped due to Sahir. Later he consistently fails to meet anyone to Sahir and as a result he is accused of lying about his friendship and everyone including his wife and children, begin to doubt his character and integrity. But on the last day of shooting, Sahir speaks into the school function that he had a friend named Billu who had once helped him by giving him his gold ear-rings so that he can go to Mumbai to become a big star. Then everybody come to know their error.
