Famous comedy movie director named Priyadarshan directed movie ‘Dhol‘ was released under the banner of Percept Picture Company on 14th September, 2007. The movie was full of comedy and drama and the lead roles in the movie were played by Sharman Joshi, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu, Rajpal Yadav and Tanushree Dutta whereas other supporting roles were played by Asrani, Farida Dadi, Rasika Joshi, Arbaaz Khan, Tarina Patel, Om Puri, Payal Rohatgi etc. The movie was produced by Mangesh Bhalerao whereas the story of the movie was written by Manisha Korde. The superhit songs of the movie were rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan, Kunal Ganjawala, Shreya Ghoshal, Labh Jajua, Shantanu Mukherjee, Mika Singh and Usha Uthup. Music was given by famous composer and music director Pritam Chakraborty. This movie was average rating movie which earned good revenue at the box office.

The movie is based on four friends named Sameer Arya (Tusshar Kapoor), Martand Damdere (Rajpal Yadav), Pankaj Tiwari (Sharman Joshi) and Gautam Sesodia (Kunal Khemu) who always think of a rich girlfriend to have wealth. They all live in a small town. Sameer and Gautam live on rent but are unable to pay rent to their landlady. Pankaj lives with his brother-in-law (Asrani) who kicked out him from his house after a confrontation whereas Martan aka Maru lives with his maternal uncle who is a corrupt police inspector (Tiku Talsania). Later Maru is also thrown away from his house and both of them start living with Gautam and Sameer. All of them are broke and accident-prone. One day they decide to start a business and therefore they apply for the loan. The bank manager tells them for required documents and soon they arrange these. By the time the manager has changed and new one does not approves their loan.

Then they decide to have a rich girlfriend and start wooing. One day Maru sees a new family comes to nearby house in which a beautiful girl named Ritu Tripathi (Tanushree Dutta) alongwith her grandfather (Om Puri) and grandmother. She comes here to locate her missing brother named Rahul. Maru tells this to rest of the friends and then starts a series of comedy and errors. All four con her into believing that they are Rahul’s friends and befriend her. Later she asks for Jai among them and Gautam points to Pankaj. What he does not know that her brother has fixed her marriage with the person named Jai whome she never seen. But when she meets with Sophie (Payal Rohatgi), she comes to knnow that all of them are fake friends of Rahul and Pankaj is not Jai because Jai (Arbaaz Khan) was her husband. Then they are abducted by a gangster named Zikomo who wants them to return his drum (dhol) in which his money is kept.
