Bollywood superstar and prominent actress Karishma Kapoor was born on June 25th, 1974 at Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is very famous by the name of ‘Lolo‘ in the industry. She was born to the family of Randhir Kapoor and Babita who were also one of the famous bollywood actors of their time. She has a younger sister named Kareena Kapoor who is very famous in the industry and now is a superstar. Karishma studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai until grade six. She does not like to talk about her personal life when asked. She was also linked with Ajay Devgan and Abhishek Bachcan and also on October 2002, her engagement was announced with Abhishek which broke in February 2003. Later she married with industrialist Sanjay Kapur on September 29th, 2003. She has a daughter named Samaira who was born on March 11th, 2005.

Karishma Kapoor showed her talent from her childhood and later when she grown up, she made her bollywood debut in the year 1991 with the movie titled ‘Prem Qaidi‘ which was a superhit. She was noticed for her performance and also got svereal projects in hand. But unfortunately her later movies were not able to show any magic at the box office between 1992-1996. Some of her average films during that time were Jigar (1992), Anari (1993), Raja Babu (1994), Coolie No. 1 (1995), Saajan Chale Sasural (1996) and Jeet (1996). Then comes her time in 1997 when she played the lead role in superhit movie ‘Raja Hindustani‘ alongwith Aamir Khan. The movie was the highest grossing film of the year and also she got her first Filmfare Best Actress Award for this film. Her good luck continues and in the next year, 1997 she got Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award and the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for the movie ‘Dil To Pagal Hai‘.

Then she took a break of one year and again came back with a superhit film titled ‘Biwi No.1‘ in 1999. The movie proved to be the years most successful film. Then a series of her comedy movies came such as ‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi‘ (1999), ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United’ (1999) as well as some serious movies like ‘Jaanwar’ which proved to be hit making her the most successful actress of the year. She appeared in ‘Fiza‘ in 2000 for which she won her second Filmfare Best Actress Award. Later she won Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance in critically acclaimed role of her in the film ‘Zubeidaa‘ in 2001. In the year 2002, she starred in ‘Shakti - The Power‘ for which she was highly appreciated. Her most recent release was the delayed film titled ‘Mere Jeevan Saathi’ in 2006, in which she played a negative role.
