Top songs of Padosan


Jyoti Swaroop directed movie ‘Padosan‘ was released under the banner of Kailash Dossani Investments Pvt. Ltd in 1968. The movie is full of comedy, romance and music drama and the lead roles in the movie were played by Sunil Dutt, Saira Banu and Kishore Kumar whereas the supporting roles in the movie were played by Mehmood, Om Prakash, Agha, Mukri, Sunder, Ganga, Praveen Paul, Keshto Mukherjee, Moolchand etc. The movie was produced by Mehmood and N.C. Sippy whereas the songs of the movie were rendered by Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Mehmood. The music of the movie was given by very famous music director Rahul Dev Burman and the dialogues and screenplay were written by Rajendra Krishan. This movie was a superhit at the box office and has collected a good revenue.

In the begining of the movie, there is a guy named Bhola (Sunil Dutt) who is same innocent as according to his name. He is a simple minded young man and has taken an oath that he will act according to the book of shashtras. In the boom of Shashtras, it is written that a man must marry when he is of the right age. Now Bhola calculated that the age of marriage according to the book is twenty five years and he is now twenty six years of age. So he can now marry to a girl of marriageable age. Then suddenly he meets with attractive and beautiful girl named Bindu (Saira Banu). She looks pretty to her and he falls in love with her but she is not interested in him. Later his search of bride takes him to his Mami’s house where he sees that only his Mama named Pratap Singh (Om Prakash) is present. Coincidentally Bindu moves in next to his Mama’s house and Bhola gets surprised when he comes to know about that.

Later Bhola comes to know that she has given his heart to his master named Pillai (Mehmood) who teaches her music lessons. Then Bhola goes to his clever and witty friend named Vidyapathi ‘GURU’ (Kishore Kumar) for help. Then Guru alongwith his disciples named Banarasi (Mukri) and Culcuttiya (Keshto Mukherjee) decides to teach Bhola some singing lessons but all in vain. Then they challange Pillai for a song competetion in which Bhola has only to perform mouth action and the song will sing by Vidyapathi. Soon the competetion starts and Bhola wins and this attracts Bindu towards Bhola. What Bhola does not know that Pratap Singh who has decided to marry again with Bindu after seeing her photo brought to him by a pandit. Here Bindu invites her to sing in her birthday party where he is caught and she gets annoyed. She decides to marry with her guruji Master Pillai but Guru tries a last chance to win Bindu’s heart for Bhola. She agrees to marry Bhola.
