The action and thriller movie titled ‘Rakshak‘ was directed and produced by Ashok Honda. Lead roles in the movie were played by Sunil Shetty, Sonali Bendre and Karisma Kapoor whereas supporting roles were played by Arun Bakshi, Dinesh Hingoo, Mushtaq Khan, Pramod Muthu, Alok Nath, Deepak Shirke, Shivkumar Subramaniam, Raveena Tandon, Raghuvaran etc. Naeem-Ejaz had written the movie whereas famous duo Anand-Milind gave the music of the movie. The movie was released on 29th November, 1996 under the banner of Ashok Honda Productions. Lyrics of the songs were written by none other than very famous lyricist Sameer and the melodious voice to the songs of the movie were given by Abhijeet, Aditya Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Poornima, Sapna Mukherjee, Udit Narayan, Vinod Rathod and S.P. Balasubrahmaniam. The movie was a hit at the box office and also had done a very good collection.

In the begining of the movie a young man named Raghuvaran alias Raghu (Raghavan) is always been ignored. This is very hard for him to endure and one day he takes a decision to teach a lesson to the world and he starts printing the best ever fake currency notes. It is but obvious that someone will notice him and soon it happens when a gangster named Bardha (Pramod Muthu) notices him. He does get him some conditional recognition by the world. But it is not he always wants as his goalis much more higher than getting mere a recognition. This does not go for too many days and one day he kills Bardha. Now his plans materialize as he now takes over the whole estate of him. This killing also gets him the position of the unchallenged leader of the underworld. Then one day he comes to know that his brother-in-law named Raj Sinha (Sunil Shetty) who is the Asst. Superindent of Police is coming to him for a visit.

Now he has to stop all his illegal activities in front of him as he not only comes alone but comes with his wife named Suman (Karisma Kapoor), her mother and his young son named Bunty. But it is impossible to some kind and Raghavan’s intructions are not followed well. This opens his all criminal activities and Raj comes to know that Raghavan is the head of this crime syndicate. Being a police inspector, Raj confronts with him and therefore Raghavan uses his position and abducts Suman, her mother and Bunty so that he can use them as his sheild on time. But Raj does not afraid of him and he has to capture him in all means. So within the battle of these two, Summan and her mother get killed. Only Bunty remains alive and it looks like if Raj does not stop following Raghavan then he will also kill Bunty.
