Bollywood’s playback singer, Richa Sharma was born in Faridabad, Haryana, India on 29th August 1972. She started singing from the her childhood and right now she is a successful singer in the bollywood industry. Her father Pandit Daya Shankar Upadhyay was was a priest in a temple. She has 6 siblings and she is the youngest one in her family. In the starting her mother Manorma Devi taught her singing bhajans mostly Santoshi Mata’s Songs. When she was eight, she got the opportunity to sing religious songs in delhi. After that she started taking proper traing under the shadow of Pandit Aaskaran Sharma. She rendered her voice for various languages songs like Punjabi, Rajasthani, movie songs. So that more and more people know about her. As she wants to make singing as her career, so she left her studies and start concentarting on her music.

In 1994 she left her home towards Mumbai. In the starting she had sung various bhajans and simultaneously she struggled for bollywood. She got her first movie in 1996, Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya directed by Sawan Kumar. After this, she worked in various film but she did not get much popularity. Her good career started when she got opportunity to rendered her voice in Taal. where she had sung the songs which were composed by well known music composer A R Rahman. Then after she gave various of hit songs from the movies like Saathiya, Baghban, Hera Pheri, Gangajal, Zubeida, Kaante, Soch and many more. She also launched her own album like Winds of Rajasthan in 2004, Piya, Main Yaar Nu Sajda Kardi. All of these albums perform good and prove  Richa as a good singer. She had worked with various well known music directors including A R Rahman and Himesh Reshmmaiya. Few of her previous movies are Musafir, Kaal, Sheesha and Kaanch.

She has also performed in various concerts in her career. In 2008, she performed all around the United States with Ariz Inc. and Mehta Enterainment. In June 2008, she performed in Vancouver at Orpheum Theater. She had worked on small screen that is on TV. She appeared on Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star as a Guest Judge. Also in a show named Antakashri with Anu Kapoor. It was aired on Zee TV. She also act as a contestant in singing show Dhoom Macha De on NDTV Imagine. She also won various awards in her career. She had won Best Female Singer Award in 2003 for the songs Mahi Ve from the movie Kaante. Recently she had rendered her voice for blockbuster hit Om Shanti Om starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
