A very famous playback singer in the Bollywood named Shailendra Singh was born on October 1st, 1952 in Bombay, Maharashtra. He is a famous playback snger in the decade of 1970 and 1980 where he gave his melodious voice to many hit songs of that time. He has a unique style of singing which makes him different from other playback singers of the industry. He was first noticed by legendary actor, director and producer, Raj Kapoor who gave him his first chance to sing in any movie as a playback singer. He gave him the chance to sing in ‘Bobby‘ in 1973 where he sang the song “Main Shayar To Nahi” which became an instant hit. That was his debut movie as a playback singer. That song was picturised on Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadiya and became famous nationwide.

After singing that song, Shailendra became famous for his performance and got many singing offers. Later his next movie was ‘Khel Khel Mein‘ in 1975 in which he sang the song “Humne Tumko Dekha” which also rocks the nation. Again he sang that song for Rishi Kapoor in the film and was applauded for the effort which he made. Not only this, his career graph continues to climb up with his singing performances in various movies such as “Hey Ghoonghate Tale Baati Jale” in ‘Khatta Meetha‘ (1978), “Anhoni Ko Honi Kar De” in ‘Amar Akbar Anthony‘ (1977), “Aji Thehro Zara Dekho Socho Zara Samhlo” and “Ham Premi Prem Karna Jaane” in ‘Parvarish‘ (1977), “Aye Yaar Sun” and “Saare Saher Mein” in Suhaag (1979) etc. He has recorded for many music directors but mostly sang for famous duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal in their many movies.

By the time he became famous voice in the industry who has rendered his voice to many actors of that time such as Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor etc. Year 1981, with the movie ‘Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai‘, there he sang the song “Arre Hoga Tumse Pyaara Kaun” which also became hit. In 1985, he once again rendered his voice to Rishi Kapoor in the movie ‘Saagar‘. In this movie, he recorded the songs for famous music dircetor named Rahul Dev Burman. Again he was appreciated with the critics. Apart from his singing career, he also tried his hands in acting but failed to acheive success as his debut movie was a flop at the box office. He also has produced a movie titled ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ in the year 2006.
